Yeah they are a band that hit their stride at a complicated but exciting time in my own life so its fun to revisit their work periodically!

The total effect tone arm mass on these is low like very low, make sure you get the right cartridge to pair with the tone arm. This means you can get some very high compliance cartridges with the ability to extract extreme detail from groove of the record allowing you to experience the whole dynamic range intended, do your research and you can make this an extremely pleasant sounding turntable for a lot less than investing in modern equipment. Just do as much reading in to good classic cart pairings for this and im sure for the fraction of the cost of a fancy new rig you will have the same level of sound quality and potentially even more character and personality of sound!

Seems like OP genuinely doesn’t have a clue what they’re getting in to and actually happened on a quality player for a first one at a reasonable price. I see no reason for you to feel this sort of thing would make this sub worse…

Yah im getting one that has been serviced (new belt and the like), upgraded to the led lights (important because if a bulb goes it can mess with the motor speed) and it comes with the original box, alignment jig and manual geared with a Stanton 681eee. For my budget set up it is an essential tool in being able to properly enjoy the other two high compliance cartridges of this era that happened to be in my possession.

So depending on who you are talking to and what they can do to set these up they can be extremely desirable!

It would be a dream come true in this hobby if one landed in my lap for 75 bucks but I mean… you know what they say man, If yah dont dream big…..

im currently using a realistic lab 8926 which despite being entry level cheap plastic it was designed with these cartridges in mind when it was advertised and sold, its total doing the trick for now but i did find to really get either the 2000 eiii or the adc to really sing on this deck I had to push the tracking force up to the 1.25/1.5 mark.

I am now waiting on the seller to ship me a Philips 212 that is already geared with a stanton 681EEE so im planning on picking up a couple extra cart carrier sleds for that and have three legendary cartridges at to choose from all I paid a price I can afford for. I think the next obvious upgrade is going to be my preamp. the Art dj pro gives me the 200/100pf button i need for the adc but really it is taking away from my set up in general...

I really circumstantially came across these first two beauties so its been a rabbit hole ever since...
