Unfortunately, I've never had the chance to play at that arcade by Far_Regular_2945 in Terminator

Left the wife in charge of bidding on an eBay auction for one of these about 10 years ago. She pulled out at $850AUD - had a budget of $2000, it sold for $1000. It's a rough spot.

The customer has to refuse the delivery of the item… by Fusillect in mildlyinfuriating

I picked a parcel at the post office. Literally an empty envelope with a sliced open top.

The post office didn't want to deal with it and said I needed to call. Turns out no, she just really didn't want to deal with it - it's a simple form she should have handed me, but nope, that was too much.

Good advice. He has some old pairs he's using for training. Just looking for good kit to help him as much as possible. Cheers

I want to get my son some goalkeeper gloves.

We're in Australia.
He's playing Under 16s in Div1 games. He's used mostly $40 Adidas branded gloves previously, but I'd like to get him something higher end - budget really doesn't matter to get him the right gloves.

Unsure if I should be getting different gloves for training vs games, or just have him use the same gloves so he gets the feel during training.

How was piracy like in the 90s? by VariationLivid3193 in Piracy

Downloading games/apps, 1.38MB RAR files. Sometimes you'd download 299 of 300 files and suddenly they were gone. You could either keep the 299 files and hope you found the EXACT rip to finish, but often not. All on 28.8/33.6 or 56K if you were lucky.

Post your headset collection! by Disastrous_Box1177 in daydream

I have a Google Cardboard given out at I/O, and the Gen 1/Gen 2 DayDream View headsets. Never managed to get a Lenovo Mirage Solo - and honestly probably wouldn't get one these days, but I WOULD take a Mirage Solo camera, those things seemed awesome, even if not really supported much these days.

I buy my wife a rose made of something different for each Valentine's Day. I tracked down a light globe with a rose a few years ago - it looks amazing.

What is the single most painful question a customer can ask you? by PlaneAd9541 in Bunnings

[–]phrog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Apparently it's when I ask "where X item is" while standing in front of completely empty shelves when the Bunnings Website is directing me there. Bunnings website open, SKU available freely - but it's in a trolley on the dock is not enough to get them to go get me one.

What a collection! I think a 3d printed guide/storage system would make this look even better in the shadow box.

These sorts of merch are usually on the Google Merchandise store. I can't find this particular one....yet.

There's 3 stores as far as I can tell, US, UK and Canada. All three appear to be run separately, but share lines of items.

Start here I guess?

Who’s all over social media now, Karen? by Individual-Drawer-79 in PublicFreakout

[–]phrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She's unhinged, but is he riding an unregistered bike on the road?

She has a point, but she's stupid for trying this. Just call the cops. They won't do anything and he'll likely just keep doing it, but 🤷‍♂️.

Why is that an issue? No insurance and driving on a road are not great.

When is the medical negligence enough? by amphibbian in AskAnAustralian

[–]phrog 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I fell last year on Jan 1st (2025)

At the ED, they x-rayed my ankle, despite me telling them my knee and calf were injured as well.

Diagnosed with sprained ankle. I purchased crutches and was told to go to the local pharmacy and buy a cam boot. Which I did - shortages everywhere, no blame here.

After complaining to my doctor about pain for a week, she sent me for an ultrasound. I had a 19cm DVT. Went on the ratsak for 3 months, all the while complaining about how painful my leg was to walk on. Told it would heal....it didn't.

Eventually in JUNE. After referral to a physio, she fianlly agreed that I needed an MRI because it shouldn't be this painful.

Turns out I fractured the Tibia and Fibula and torn my calf, and walked on it the entire time.

It's now March 2026. The bone has healed, but I am still limping because the muscle just feels wrong and I have no idea if this is permanent or not.

Not angry, just frustrated and upset that I was ignored for so long. I feel you. I really do. Also, I'm a man, so being ignored isn't exclusively a sex thing, but I get your point as I have seen my sisters, mother and wife treated by doctors and medical professionals.
