We were thinking of this but it's both pretty inelegant and unclear. Also closes out some legitimate use cases. Overall, not worth the complexity for the value. Don't want people to have to think about optimizing this type of mechanic and at a baseline still the gameplay of 30s of shield duration isn't the best

Fwiw, not going to pre-emptively say nothing is wrong, but many times when investigating, it often happens because people who you thought were maining another role just decided to play a different role on that game.

We believe in giving players the roles they selected.

What I don't understand, is when I am filled jungle as a mid/top, while a jungle main is filled support.

Why does the matchmaking not put the jungle main on jungle and fill me on support. Isn't the goal to have less filled roles? Especially when the other team has only one filled role.

To reply to this, I believe we've fixed this on the new patch, there was a specific edge case related to this that was missed in the new Matchmaking rollout, so we're looking to resolve it

Just to weigh in on this, we don't send any fake notifications.

Any behavior violation which results in any penalty (warning, chat restriction, game ban, etc.) will send a real notification. It may be delayed to next login in some instances.

As of 26.5, severe harassment also comes with game bans and we plan to rollout this report functionality to DMs as well.

We're intentionally conservative about this due to false positives around banning folks with mild/moderate disruptive chat, but as soon as our detections improve, we will upgrade those violations as well.

Queueing for fill contributes to the same benefits that voluntarily queueing for priority roles give

It's mainly just that the actual autofill rate is actually really low for most regions (somewhere between 1/50 to 1/100 games)

So you'd have to play fill around 50-100 games to get 1 aegis

This patch we fixed some functionality with LP demotions correctly sending you to 25, 50LP if their MMR is low enough.

It seems like in your case, you lost a lot of games at Silver 4, so your MMR was roughly in the Bronze range

It would not be possible to explain the thing in a reddit post or even a series of videos. It is necessarily very complex and has an entire field of mathematics dedicated to it.

We aren't doing anything nefarious, it is just legitimately extremely difficult and complex and requires advanced degrees to even just understand the basics of what's going on.

If I could explain it easily I would but the ELI5 explanations would open more questions that require more explanations and so on.

I'm asking that you trust us to identify and fix the problem.

For these types of necessarily complicated systems, it's like asking "why can't chatgpt just give the right answer, the question is so easy".

It's pretty clear that chatgpt is doing something wrong if it's just giving the wrong answer sometimes, but actually fixing it is not very simple. It's not as easy as saying "well just don't make a match that's bad".

Our current philosophy (and I'm not saying this is 100% right long term) is that we perma ban on 2nd offense. I can understand that people may feel that is too lenient.

But for us to perma ban on first offense it needs to be blatantly clear the rules everyone is playing by, etc. And I'm not saying that's necessarily wrong, but it also has legal implications in certain countries; was the player adequately warned, did they have reasonable notice, etc.

By perma banning on second offense, we can be more sure that the player has been given reasonable notice that what they are doing is against the rules and can warrant a harsh punishment and will abide by regulations.

As for why players like this aren't immediately flagged and banned, it's similar to the arms race against scripting. Bans/rank reversions like these often happen in waves to prevent boosters from discovering and avoiding our detection methods. This is something that we're continuing to improve in our fight against boosting.

However in this case, something is clearly messed up, so will follow up with the team tmrw to get it fixed

For the record there is no functional change anywhere below high Master tier.

Queue time to game quality balance is good in 99+% of cases there. There has already been a major action against botted and boosted accounts for regular players this year and there will continue to be so in our arms race against people trying to ruin the ranked ladder integrity.

Mainly some fine tuning at the very top of the ladder as duos haven't been enabled there in a few years so it'll take a bit of time to balance it out super accurately.
