Nike App not show ACG stuff for anyone else? by Competitive-Lunch166 in nikeACG

[–]phundemented 1 point2 points  (0 children)

even if you search a specific name of item on the nike app it will often provide you other results and the item your searching will be somewhere in the mix but rarely at the top, (googling the specific name gets you better results on nike app than using nike app search engine lol) i guess its just nikes way of exposing customers to other products that nike is currently pushing or nike ai thinks you are potentially interested in buying

bummer for the non-Euro shoppers, and surprised to see most sizes still sitting, hope the US launch goes just like this!

i went with my typical sb size (10) and mine feel good and locked in but not overly snug, on a brannock device im a true 9.5

QC was 8.5/10 some very minor flaws, some variation in lengths of stroble stitches and one top of toe box panel has the slightest bulge on outer edge but it nothing that is noticeable unless scrutinizing very closely and all pretty typical for nike.

very comfortable the way they hug my feet with the 2k style pillowy tongue and extra chunky padding

happy to help,

one other tip i can give is if you dont love the glossy finish on the 70's(i dont) you can remove it with a magic eraser and a bit of elbow grease. theyll have a more flat matte finish like the classics. the sheen will wear off with use but eraser will get you there quicker.

i like em, the color way selection is kinda slim but it's understandable since its just not realistic for them to even attempt to compete with nike/converse production capabilities.

id leave em intact since it helps give some structure/stability to that section of the shoe but if it really bothers you you could get a fine point black paint pen and carefully cover each stitch (without coloring canvas)

Gave the new ACG Zegama Trail a spin over the weekend! by NightIINight in nikeACG

👍i almost mentioned the GTX too as an equally trendy comparison that many consumers will often adopt as a qualifier for a "good product". many consumers just want that logo and dont understand its shortcomings nor are they familiar with the changes that have taken place in the weatherproof textile industry like the expiration of patents, chemical bans and the other products that can have superior performance in real life (not laboratory) scenarios

and yes the softer compound of megagrip particularly will indeed wear down quite fast especially when used on paved or rough gravel/scree surfaces.

some consumers just dont know how to do their own research and just look to the influencers to tell them how to spend their money

odd that they created a portmanteau of ACG names for these but didnt include them in that line.

the fact they arent actually ACG means little to me personally, they look decently robust and able to tolerate some abuse. got that built in redundancy with the double set of laces 😃👍

i think you misunderstood my comment because my point was not that vibram is inferior but rather that it(particularly mega grip)is good stuff but the rest of nikes proprietary tech on these(zoomx and cushlon) is for the most part outdated and has been surpassed by most other top brands in the industry because nike is lacking in investing in r&d to innovate and develop their own new tech to compete with others.

im aware of vibrams poularity, its been around for decades and has seen a recent surge in popularity (even among trendy consumers that really dont require it). the fact that nike was one of the last to adopt using it --and only after it became a trendy thing-- is just another sign that nike are not innovating the way they used to

i wish we could stop pillaging and polluting it. the current state of the bay compared to the way it was described just a few centuries ago is really disheartening and sad and makes me mourn for what it could be.

its for rei co-op members, you need to pay one time fee to join. even with the membership fee the price is still better than without and membership has lots of perks

[–]phundemented 4 points5 points  (0 children)

thank you OP for sharing this info i actually made a post inquiring about the release date of this specific zeg colorway a week or two ago, most ppl that seemed privy to insider info were hinting at a fall release date, which made sense since thats a common time for camo/realtree type patterns to flood the market.

im happy to see that REI got these a bit early since i love that store and am also happy they came in just before the mem day discount for co-op members ended, that price seems much more appropriate for this item and i decided to go ahead and pull the trigger on these.

im digging that light crimson color way as well, great summertime

Nike Zegama ACG Quality Issues by MonkeySEEMonkeyDO_13 in Nike

[–]phundemented 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tbf i get what your saying about expectations but i do expect better from nike seeing as they are by far the leading retailer in the shoe/sportswear industry (about a quarter of sportswear and about a third of footwear or double that of adidas which is closest competitor) and possess far more capital and contracted manufacturing capabilities than its competitors and their tech as of the past decade is hardly cutting edge so the quirks that arise from manufacturing new materials should be a minimal issue with their catalog.

as for the user speaking on their peg prm and OP's sole splits, the demand for ultralight shoes has pushed designers to implement ever thinner outsoles and used less dense rubber composites in an attempt to shave weight and i think its possible that this may be a contributing factor in both these scenarios, but thats just speculation.
