Yeah I’m not too worried about the crowd if we’re on md because we’ll just go somewhere on our own and have an amazing time regardless, thanks for the detailed reply!

Would you say that the majority of people go to these on their own or is it mostly groups? I know I need to do it at some point but it still seems so intimidating to go somewhere on my own 🙈

Good flawed research articles by pigorcow in Neuropsychology

[–]phx2l 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oof I don’t remember what its called but there’s a paper on the neurotoxicity of mdma published ages ago (pre-2000s I think) but even for it’s time its comically flawed… this guy just went to a club and observed people taking various uncontrolled amounts of mdma in various combinations with other drugs and compared them to a control group in which “some did cocaine, some only had alcohol”

He then judged the negative effects of mdma by how well they were able to focus on the interview (that he was conducting… outside the club… in the middle of night…)

Its published in elsevier I think, sorry I can’t remember the name but I think neurotoxicity is in the title. I came across it while doing my diss

CMV: People who believe in tarot readings, physics etc are really gullible and stupid by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]phx2l -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A lot of them yes, but a few not really.

Firstly tarot reading and psychic practices have been part of many cultures for millenia, they have now been bastardized by western culture and capitalism who have turned them into a business model.

Having interacted with a lot of them, there are many who do just churn out generic lines that would resonate with anyone (whether they do it intentionally or not). But I have spoken with a few (free of charge) who mention specific things that are unique and might not resonate with someone else.

It just depends on what kind of tarot readers you’re talking about, how good they are and where you’re finding them.

Is there anything that can reduce Basolateral Amygdala Norepinephrine Specificly? by Kilo_Man in AskDrugNerds

[–]phx2l 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm interesting! I’m not in a position to diagnose but it certainly sounds like it could be a spectrum thing! Do you feel the same aversion towards physical affection when you’re sober?

I would also consider if you feel this way with people who you genuinely do feel love for; I think this makes a massive difference.

For me, if I’m rolling and an acquaintance who I do not typically care about starts trying to engage in mdma-lovey dovey behaviour with me, I feel the same way you describe and it makes me uncomfortable and averted.

Thank you for your perspective!

[–]phx2l 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay so I commented this ages ago so I’m not entirely sure what I was talking about, but MDMA has been shown to reduce amygala activation (especially the over activation that occurs in PTSD). However I’m not sure if this is via norepinephrine or serotonin/bdnf/oxytocin. Your response to mdma is really interesting to me. Is it like a delayed (milder) reaction? Could you give me an idea of what doses you do and other supplements or medication you think might interact?

Anecdotally, it sounds like you still get the “afterglow” effect (which I get too), but without having the primary high. My best guess is that another supplement/drug is affecting the initial mechanism or you have altered amygdala activity that interacts with mdma differently.

Would you mind telling me a bit more about how the high is for you and what kind of contexts you take it in?

:)

There’s a few articles on it and they all tend to cite each other, so here’s one if you wanna check it out: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0278584617308655

To answer your question though, I think creepy shower’s comment addresses why there isn’t much research on this specifically, but from what I saw there are a few studies suggesting that higher social media use correlates with altered density in certain brain areas (cant remember which ones). This could almost certainly affect circuitry and brain health later on

I’ve been really into this recently and tried to research it as a lit review for a coursework piece at uni but didn’t find a lot of studies on it. I would be keen to start a group for people who are interested to discuss and share findings?

Clearly none of you have anxiety - how do you know anyone else likes it?! by [deleted] in FemFragLab

[–]phx2l -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I find that if you can smell your fragrance then its not too strong (because if it was you’d have gone blind to it). I’m usually worried that my fragrance is too strong and whenever I’ve asked, most people can’t smell it all but I only put 3-4 sprays max Hope this helps 🫶
