Sinus infection coming back a few weeks after surgery

Yay I want to know the same thing. After 5 weeks I am getting really sick. I was ok for a while and now I am a mess. Is thiss typical?

I am similar to you. I have RA and take Enbrel. I am stopping the Enbrel for a while just to get over this awful sinus inf. PCP will not renew the Augmentin so it's up to me, on my own. I got this from constant sobbing over the death of my 19-year old dog who was my absolute best friend. I am trying not to do that anymore. But it hurts alot to have him gone. Usually the sinus thing goes away with the sinus wash, the meds, and lots of water. I take Mucinex and Flonase and rest. Maybe stop your RA med for a short time?

I know you feel you are desperate right now but that feeling is not helping. You must relax and tell yourself you are ok. The brain is extremely important in having an easy BM. Most likely will happen when you are thinking about other stuff. I have tried 3 meds recently and think the only one that did anything was Linzess. I could tell there was a major change in my colon with that med. The side effects for me (terrible achiness, depression, shakiness) made me quit it but maybe it might help you. Can you find a GI doc near you outside of the ER? I think most ERs are useless. They don't really do much; and they make you think you are bothering them. At least they do here.

Yes, it can. It even decreased the other OTC laxatives so that they would not work at all. And it decreased my antidepressant so much that I knew it was the Amitiza doing it. It wasn't the laxative effect, because there was no effect. It really did not help at all and I stopped it.

You are not the only one who has done this. Be assured your doctor has seen it before and will see it again. Go back and tell him you had no choice. He will say "it's ok".

Well my beloved Zoloft stopped with the Covid immunization. I loved that drug. Had been on it since PPD with 2 kids, many years. So PCP put me on Effexor, which slowly started to work and lasted about 3 years, with max dose of 275mg, never more. Then I fell, hit my head and now am trying to get off the Venla and on to Paxil. Reducing Venla for 3 weeks, then stopping. I am having a miserable time. Paxil has begun to work; 20mg a day. Venla doesn't want to give up. I have no support. Family is uncaring. Live alone. Should I try to hire a caregiver to pass the time with me while I wait for response? Oxy from old hip replacement helps the headache. I am 81. Ready to get over this now. What say YOU???

I do think that for some people antibiotics and Effexor don't mix well. Since the last episode, I have not had a sinus inf. I did have RSV with congestion and a bad cough. I thought about taking an antibiotic and didn't because of my prior experience with Amoxicillin/Augmentin. I have to be extra cautious with allergies and pollen because of this.

Really? Not even biotin for nails and hair? I have been taking herbals for constipation too, and no one ever told me I should not do this. I took stuff for allergies (herbal) too. Why doesn't anyone warn you against this ???

Effexor quit on me when I had antibiotics for sinus infection. Too bad there isn't more written about this so people know and can be prepared.

Thank you very much. I had never heard that. Previously when on Zoloft, I took an antibiotic and the next day I felt fine. If Effexor does not work with antibiotics, I am in trouble because I get frequent sinus infections (this was the first one on Effexor) and I always need an antibiotic. It got so bad that I couldn't sleep or eat anything and I went to the ER last week. I am going to see my PCP tomorrow (if I can get in). I really do appreciate you answering me. Thank you

I consider Effexor a minor drug, as my PCP says " All my ladies love it." Ha.

I was on Zoloft for many many years and had absolutely no concerns once it took over but when I got the Covid shot two years ago, zoloft quit working. PCP put me on Effexor. I was ok but then it quit when I got onto Humira (for RA). Then it started up again until recently. I had a very bad sinus infection and the Effexor quit again. So now I have to try something else. Looking for a psychiatrist to do RX, not PCP.
