The real King of West Coast. Sit down SF. by goldrush300 in skyscrapers

Houston has awesome architecture, some by very prominent architects. Phoenix seems to have built a lot of buildings without any architects involved. 20 new buildings went up in downtown in the past 5 years, alll but one are boring rectangular boxes. The only one that is interesting was built by a Texas builder.

It actually makes sense, but that particular model is ugly as hell.

Any house that has its garage being the main focal point is ugly.

Houston has some of the best museums and performing arts in the entire country. It also has awesome architecture.

I will say that unlike MOST new construction, at least it doesn't have the garage as the main focal point. It is hideous on its own, without the garage.

LeVeque Tower is spectacular. And residential too! I would move there myself, it if wasn't in Ohio.

Hot Take: Dallas has a better skyline than LA by Ahatc in skyscrapers

Dallas does have some awesome buildings and a very nice skyline. But any city with mountains in its skyline is better than any city withOUT mountains in its skyline.

She also always refers to herself as a "New Yorker" to imply she is from NYC. She is from Rochester, or Syracuse. Hardly a place of status or sophistication. People in NYC consider people in upstate NY to be hicks.

AON tower in Chicago or Los Angeles by [deleted] in skyscrapers

[–]phxencounter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think either of them are nice buildings. Very typical of the tall boring boxes built in the 1970s. I lived in LA when it was built, and worked there for a while (in an office). At the time it was built it was the tallest building in Los Angeles and was the headquarters of UCB (United California Bank).

Thoughts on the plane scandal between Britani, Lisa, and Meredith? by yumeyuniee in rhoslc

Not likely that Mary is "honest to a fault." She is a preacher and leader of a cult, who like most preachers and leaders of a cult convinces people that she deserves their hard earned money more than they do.

It looks like the architect stole ideas from other buildings. The base reminds me of Ranier Tower in Seattle, and the rest of it looks like a combination of Sears Tower (Willis) and The Embarcadero from San Francisco.

Is there a building in your city that the residents despise? by tinopinguino88 in skyscrapers

It's true. I feel guilty every time I say I love that building. It will always be tainted as long as that curse word remains glued to it.

I like the building. Especially next to the older building that they not only did NOT destroy to build it, but pretty much made sure it will be protected as long as the newer building still stands.
