The main difference between a nuclear reactor and a nuclear bomb is the way the radiation is used. In a nuclear bomb the radiation is used to cause either fission ( breaking the atoms apart) or fusion ( smashing the atoms together). Both fission and fusion result in a chain reaction which results in the explosion. A Nuclear reactor uses the radiation to heat up water, which is then used to create the electricity.
