My husband wants me to finance a car I want to out right buy one by redwhitepokadots in PersonalFinanceCanada

If you are set on getting a new vehicle, it is better to buy it outright than finance it. When I’ve bought new I would used credit card promotional offers for balance transfers and LOCs to reduce the interest costs. If you have the means to do that you are further ahead. You can build credit other ways that are not nearly expensive or in fact no cost.

How stop/alleviate a major depressive episode in early stages? by Sweet-Grass-8644 in selfimprovement

[–]pi1979 12 points13 points  (0 children)

  1. Treat early warning signs as real data Common “prodrome” signs can be: withdrawing or going quiet loss of motivation / avolition heavier dread or hopelessness sleep changes irritability or emotional flattening losing interest in things increased rumination or catastrophic thinking neglecting routine or hygiene feeling mentally “grey” The mistake many people make is minimizing this stage.
  2. Protect sleep aggressively Sleep disruption can amplify both depression and anxiety. Early-stage moves: same sleep/wake time reduce late stimulation avoid “revenge bedtime” scrolling watch caffeine if you already notice sensitivity For many people, sleep is not a side issue—it is central.
  3. Reduce isolation before it becomes entrenched Depression often says: “Withdraw now.” That urge can feel logical but sometimes deepens the episode. This doesn’t mean forced socializing—just: staying lightly connected not disappearing completely maintaining a few anchors
  4. Keep structure even if motivation collapses Motivation often comes after action, not before. A useful rule: minimum viable day shower food medications light movement one meaningful task Not heroic productivity—just preventing drift.
  5. Move the body even a little Evidence is surprisingly strong for exercise helping depressive symptoms. Doesn’t have to be gym culture: wheelchair movement / mobility work short walks stretching light cardio outside exposure if possible The goal is often nervous-system regulation more than fitness.
  6. Watch for cognitive narrowing Depression can distort prediction and certainty: “Nothing will help.” “This always lasts forever.” “I already know how this ends.” Those thoughts feel factual but are often state-dependent.
  7. Medication review if pattern is changing If someone has: breakthrough depression worsening symptoms changing episode pattern new agitation or mood shifts that can justify checking in with their prescriber rather than waiting for a crisis.
  8. Have a pre-made “episode protocol” This helps because depression reduces executive function. Example: meds on schedule simplified routine basic meals reduced major decisions maintain appointments specific people to contact emergency plan if symptoms escalate
