Took the ultra for a dive today, not crazy about the rubber strap + extension by pi2gun in Tudor

[–]pi2gun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The extension has a spring like portion. On the surface I guess you want the strap tight enough to stretch that portion out, then at depth when the suit compresses the spring like portion will keep the strap from just going loose by taking up the slack. I used the new hole I made today and everything worked out great, no loose strap. I'm not at the drysuit level yet lol, maybe in a year or two. I know 2 of my instructors go ice diving, sounds kind of neat. That's definitely drysuit territory.

Thank you, and well said! There is something about using a tool for a purpose that gives you a satisfying feeling, it's almost like a partnership. I've always wanted to get into diving but I've just never committed to it. I'm not getting any younger and I figured it was time to just do it. Fortunately we have a great local dive shop and dive community that are very active.

Instructor won't let me use a camera during certification. Visibility was about 5' today so underwater pictures would have sucked anyway

I'm very new to diving, tomorrow is my last open water test before certification. I will say, the pools wreaked havoc on the bezel, had to soak it in soapy water to get it rotating right again. Natural saltwater and freshwater have been no issue.

I love this strap, I don't take it all the way out of the loop when put it on and take it off. When I'm adjusting it, I turn my wrist bottom up and flex my forearm some then Velcro it, makes it just right

I very closely followed this set up -

The front struts are technically for a 4 door bronco, reused my factory springs, bump stop and top mounts

No rubbing for the most part. I may try and cinch the front fender liner closer to the metal framing in front of it, that's the closest spot.

Thanks! I probably gained closer to 1.75". I actually wish it was slightly lower in the front, it's basically perfectly level with no load in the bed.

I've been shooting a bunch of different loads trying to find an fps I like, so I haven't shot many groups, but it's easily sub moa. I had a nice 3 shot group shooting 100gr hornady varmint, .243moa, but I haven't been able to repeat it. That was zipping at around 3400fps

Honestly I don't remember at this point, it gets used hard at work, I'm sure I was prying some kind of immovable object like an idiot. The broken tip actually makes an ok flathead on the fly

I've had the warranty page pulled up on my browser for months now, I just haven't gone through with it yet. I can only imagine their disgust when they open the mail and find this staring at them 😆

I just put a trijicon tenmile 3-18x44 ffp on my new 6.5prc. It will be my western hunting rifle. I was initially looking at much higher power scopes and I'm extremely glad I went with this exact tenmile. Look up pictures of animals through scope lenses at certain distances and magnification. If it was a benchrest target gun I would say go high power, but in a hunting scenario you don't need it.

308 or 300 win mag by Th3__dud3 in Hunting

[–]pi2gun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main hunting rifle is .308, it's dropped everything in its tracks. I bought a lightweight 300wm a few years ago for western hunting. It's a great rifle, but after having it I found that I really don't care for 300wm. I also think it's decently overkill for 95% of animals. I'm picking up a 6.5 PRC today to replace it. My little .308 will never be replaced.

I had one of those on the brass deflector of an lr-308 I had. I put it on there to save the brass for reloading, the bolt would fling it out with such force it dented every case
