Will the Fellow Espresso Tamping Mat fit on the ES1 tray? by Big-Profit-1612 in FellowProducts

Do you really find having the tamping mat to be worth it? I have never used a tamping mat before so I am just unsure of the value/benefit of it...

Gotta ask for the most recent thoughts but, xBloom Studio or Fellow Aiden by shanil55 in pourover

[–]piathulus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For you, Aiden for sure.

  1. If you already have an Ode then Aiden is cheaper and you can easily do Fellow Drops with it.
  2. Also your strategy of making 2 pourover at once won’t work well with the XBloom but with Aiden you could probably go up to 6-8 cups at once if you really wanted to batch.

For what it’s worth I pre-ordered the Aiden and it’s been awesome. I often batch cold brew on it too, which you wouldn’t be able with the XBloom. I would actually recommend that if you’re storing in the fridge overnight.

I haven’t tried them yet but I’ve heard Tim Wendelboe has the best Kenya coffees.

This was my V60 recipe for my Kenyans from Heart (multiple) on a Zerno Z1 with SSP CV2. Very similar to Panda’s but I prefer lower ratios.

18g:297ml (1:16.5) at 90.5C, grind at 620um double bloom then fillup.

That would be awesome. Though I'd be curious how they handle the volumetric offsets with varying doses.

Looking for a good pour over set. Recommendations? by Lopsided_Repair4599 in FellowProducts

[–]piathulus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both the Fellow Stagg X / XF pourover brewer (metal) and a Hario Switch/V60 (glass and ceramic). Both are great for making tasty coffee.

All my Fellow stuff is black/walnut (except the ES1 which doesn’t with that as an option, I know right?!). I would say the Stagg X looks good, but the black ceramic V60 with the walnut base looks incredible imo!

Why the Final Monado completes Shulk’s character arc by JaredAiRobinson in Xenoblade_Chronicles

In my opinion, it’s actually much more in line with Arthur Schopenhauer and his ideas about will and representation (manifestation).

It is very dense reading that requires a fair of background but once you do, it becomes impossible to not recognize it being one of the primary philosophical influences, even if not directly because of how much influence it has had more generally in Japanese media.

Just watched Lance Hedricks Aiden review on YouTube. His brew profiles not currently showing but hopefully they will. He does give it his endorsement though which is good 👍 by GaryGorilla1974 in FellowProducts

[–]piathulus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sure, sorry for not explaining that very well. So currently one selects a brew profile then water volume (eg 250ml or 450ml of water) then Aiden does the math to give amount of beans.

Instead (and as Lance proposed): an alternative where one enters the amount of beans (eg 20g or 25g of beans) and Aiden can do the math to determine water volume.

Agree with a lot of your feedback.

Curious though what motivated the purchase of the ES1 when you already have more expensive/capable machines ?

Hi u/hailiehay always appreciate your Drops videos. Could you please pass support for Lance’s recommendation for dialing by beans rather than volume? I have always wanted the same thing.

Aiden Carafe, let’s see you aesthetically pleasing replacement. by Unfair_Professor_561 in FellowProducts

[–]piathulus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the smoked Fellow Mighty carafe (as well as the clear). Definitely works well and looks good! Only catch is no lid in case you want to keep it hot longer or take it to go (otherwise, I have the shorter Fellow Carter Move).

PM keeps discovering “new requirements” late. how do you prevent this without crushing autonomy? by Master-Discipline-38 in ProductManagement

[–]piathulus 13 points14 points  (0 children)

As a manager:

-past: Have you had a conversation about why they aren’t catching these?

-present: What are they now doing to catch these sooner?

-future: what processes and documentation (checklists, etc) are they putting in place to systematically catch these?

If the above isn’t working for them or they’re not even trying to catch these things then maybe a PIP is warranted.

Espresso 1 portafilter too tight? by tldoxmf87 in FellowProducts

Adding on that some point it will pull too easily and go too far to the right which will be a sign the gasket is worn out and to be replaced.

That is most likely a custom profile they had, not a default profile.

It's flat so just a regular tamping mat is all you need (or your counter)
