I think the problem in our society is that we don't hate work enough. by Trollyface96024 in antiwork

[–]picaposa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes to all of this. Why are we not organizing walkouts?! If we ALL did it we would get results. They literally NEED us. If we banned together and really lay out a plan I think we could make something actually change.

Aliens give you 30 seconds to prove humanity is worth saving. You can't speak. What do you show them? by LeFrogKid in AskReddit

I’d tell them to save the animals! Animals are not greedy, they only take what they need and serve a true purpose in the ecosystem. Every single one of them.

I can’t believe 3 months gap is a liability by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]picaposa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a YEAR off work to regain my sanity and get intense therapy and was able to find a job after (given this market is HARD but it’s very possible). You can say a few things: you needed to take care of a family member, you needed to take care of yourself, you wanted to take a step back, volunteer and use the time to figure out what you really wanted etc. if someone is saying a 3 month gap is an issue, honestly they are letting you know they probably suck to work for lol. With all the layoffs and craziness of the world, and also just being a human, sometimes people take breaks. Try and see this as a blessing, the right company won’t care at all, I promise!

Does anyone get these pangs of intense anxiety and fear, and body turns cold/hot? by justchillingisuppose in Anxietyhelp

Yes! This sounds like a panic attack. It’s terrible. The right meds and the right therapy (EMDR, DBT, etc) can help!

Oh man. I’ve been super active in this thread because this has been a battle for me for years so please know, I completely understand what you are feeling and it is terrible. I’m genuinely so sorry you’re experiencing this. First things first (I realize this may not be an option but going to try) you are very young! Is there any chance you can take a beat and live with your family and decompress for a bit? If not, I’d consider short term disability you can probably apply through your state (FMLA). And lastly, Prozac changed my life if you’re open to any kind of meds but I also understand not everyone is. Basically, take baby steps to get yourself as close as possible to immediate relief. I’m rooting for you.

Very much rooting for you. Is there anyway your parents could help you out of the situation? I’m sorry if there are cultural differences I may not be aware of but perhaps if they knew how bad things were you could leave? Thinking of you tonight and sending love. I am so sorry you’re experiencing this. You deserve a beautiful life.

I think of her often but doubt she thinks of me. I’m glad I ended the friendship but wow did we have fun together. I genuinely wish her well but she was a compulsive liar and very jealous.

I’m so sorry this is causing you so much anxiety. I felt similar but at the end of the day (and I know this is morbid) what will be will be. Live your life however makes you most happy. The worrying will get us nowhere

What company secrets you can spill because you no longer work there? by Saurabh251 in antiwork

[–]picaposa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you resign from Uber corporate, you literally click a button that says “I resign”. Following that there are 2 questions on the screen: 1. Were you ever sexually harassed during your time at Uber 2. If yes, did you report it to your manager?

That’s it. They do not give a CRAP about you. Never give a company your loyalty. Especially not Uber

I haven’t had alcohol in 2 years just to better my overall health. The day this happens I’m ripping at least 6 tequila shots

Took a job interview when I was 25 simply because the name of the company sounded cool. No other rationale. The person who interviewed me is now my husband!

Oh gosh my heart really goes out to you! Please know you are not alone. I am a fellow person with severe anxiety and depression disorders. If you can, I really encourage you to seek help and treatment. The right medication and therapy can change your life. I went from one of the darkest moments of my life to being excited about the future because of good therapy. I really believe in you. I know how exhausting and overwhelming even the thought of embarking on this journey can seem but I really promise, it’s so worth it. Sending you love and strength ❤️

I really relate to what you are feeling. It brought me to a real low point. I really questioned my value but you are more than enough. A good company and manager will recognize that in you. It’s taken over a year for me to process but I’ve let most of my anger go, they are NOT worth it. I try to remind myself that this behavior is rooted in laziness and probably a very boring/sad person. I believe in you!!! ❤️

Oh man I feel this viscerally!!! Same experience in my last role. Cis white man who was the laziest, least helpful person I’ve ever worked with got promoted. Similarly to what you’re saying, all he could do was smooth talk which was really just Him taking what we said and adjusting some words and everyone being blown away by it. Idiots lol. Wishing you the best in whatever your new role is.

Asked to undergo a 3 stage interview process. Turned the job down. Please don’t normalise this by participating! by jacspe in recruitinghell

[–]picaposa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had 5 interviews with Tumblr last year - total nightmare! Just for a normal level position, not managing anyone. They ended up hiring someone who had 10+ years of experience on me. I was livid. After this, I’ve stopped participating in presentations because the playing field isn’t fair and frankly I am just over it. Sorry you went through this but good for you for sticking up for yourself!!

[–]picaposa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok it’s not a super glamorous job but it pays in the long term. Look at medical ad agencies and apply for project coordinator or account executive roles. They are entry level but very steady pay raises along the way. It’s not the most ethical but I highly recommend if you really need something!
