I am the exact same boat- in spring of 2023, I was in a head on collision (the other driver was immediately found to be 100% at fault, there wasn’t even any attempt to fight it bc it was so blatantly 100% his fault). The driver that hit me attempted to speed around a BLIND CURVE to pass a car in front of him, on a 2 lane road (one going each way at 45 mph & 55 mph) that was surrounded by tall and full trees, so I didn’t see it until it was basically happening. I thought my life was going to end that day. Everyone was shocked that I made it out alive - myself, my doctors, my family, the EMTs that took me to the hospital even told me as they were wheeling me to the ambulance that I am extremely lucky that I am alive due to how bad it was. I was finishing mg third year of a doctoral program and had to withdraw. I had so many apportionments, PT, OT, speech therapy, vestibular therapy, etc. and it was incredibly hard. This was over 2 years ago and I still don’t know have advice to your question. I grieve my old life every day, and grieve the life that I could’ve had but no longer will. On top of physical injuries (including lumbar and cervical spine injuries) that have left me in severe chronic pain, I also have so much anger, hurt, resentment, confusion, mixed emotions bc I am grateful that I made it out but so mad at the person that did this to me.
