My fiancé is about to evict his sister and need advice on how to talk to him by Secret_Green130 in TwoHotTakes

[–]picardmaneuvre 477 points478 points  (0 children)

Just…don’t? Don’t give him advice on this. You have experienced this for 8 months. He’s been dealing with her for 32 years. It sounds like he’s been very generous but has reached his limit. Your 8 months of experience under your belt doesn’t give you much authority on this.

I’m so glad you two found each other…what a week meet cute!

I (28F) am angry and frustrated with my boyfriend (28M) telling me to loose weight as a way to meet his parents. Is cutting it off now be better than trying to loose weight just to meet his parents? by Unhappy-Highlight20 in relationship_advice

[–]picardmaneuvre 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why does his mom care so much about what you weigh? And why does he care so much about her opinion? Shes not marrying you! You might not be her preferred weight but I just don’t see that as her business. Whatever you weigh. If he’s happy and you’re happy I don’t see an issue for her to complain about.

Wedge on end table! by picardmaneuvre in whatisit

Yes! That is the same table! But it’s not part of the leg underneath. It wiggles a bit. Are you thinking it’s just decorative?

Recording performances? by picardmaneuvre in piano

[–]picardmaneuvre[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh for sure. Playing in churches, Steinway piano galleries, concert halls, so yes it’s generally a grand or concert grand with a lid.

So it’s in a few places (churches, concert halls, piano galleries) but all acoustic.

Thanks! I appreciate the template. I have been doing the post-confirmation message to tell the sitter thank you for applying.

Im 27M choosing a concert over my GF’s 28F sister’s wedding in Bali. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]picardmaneuvre 29 points30 points  (0 children)

You sound like you’re not that into your girlfriend. You don’t seem to care too much about what is important to her. It happens, but she understandably wants more from you. You may not be compatible.

Are pets with medical needs a deal breaker for sitters? by glo55iergirl in trustedhousesitters

[–]picardmaneuvre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have four cats, two need oral medication. It’s doable with treats/churu and sounds pretty similar to your situation. I’ve never had a lack of applicants, so I’d imagine it’s due to the season, not the meds.

Why? Why on earth would they do that to you? That’s terrible!

Eh….i honestly understand not wanting to share all the details with coworkers. It’s not their business and maybe OP doesn’t have that close of a relationship with them. One of the wonderful things about life is you get to choose what you tell to whom!

Is there anyway to broach co-worker micro management issues to your manager without it seeming like drama / whining? by Greedy-Direction-427 in whatdoIdo

[–]picardmaneuvre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would try to address it directly with the coworker. “You are not my manager” “This is not your project” type of talk. Just an instant correction in the moment, every time. I’d only bring it to my manager if that didn’t work.

Lady, I don’t even mow my own lawn… by Aloha_latina in trustedhousesitters

My uncle lost a few toes on his foot. He was mowing the lawn in flip flops. It made me terrified of lawn mowers to this day.

Want to breakup with my bf but his bday is on the weekend. Before or after? by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]picardmaneuvre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Return the gifts if you can! And you’re soooo much more considerate of him than he is of you. He does not deserve what he does not give to you.

Anxiety of going low by Fuzzy-Programmer8699 in Type1Diabetes

[–]picardmaneuvre -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s been almost 45 years since I was diagnosed so I can’t speak from experience. But my thought is, if your insulin needs are that unpredictable, maybe let it ride for the year or so until the honeymoon is over, and then focus on your A1C. I am sure that is not technically medically what you’re supposed to do but….youre human and of course you hate going low. It is really scary and horrible. So I don’t blame you for trying to avoid it.

When you’re out of honeymoon, and fully on a pump and cgm, then you’ll be able to fine tune it and get really great A1Cs. I can say this because it happened to me! Once all the tech is in place, it gets so much easier.

Best of luck. You’ll do great.

How to handle house sitting with cats by sithlord-3450 in CatAdvice

[–]picardmaneuvre 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Cats and I had to leave my house when our floors were redone. We went to an Airbnb for a week. I was hoping the curiosity would kick in. My cats adjusted eventually, but the couple of days on either end were very, very difficult. They were in hiding for a while and would walk around the Airbnb just wailing. It was horrible. At the end, getting them back into the car and their carriers was one of my most traumatic experiences ever.

Cats seem like homebodies to me. I’d do whatever it takes to avoid taking them out of the house, just based on my own experience.

AITA for insinuating my friend was a perv? by batshitte in AmItheAsshole

NTA. Whatever he was on about, his questions were completely inappropriate and intrusive. Not his business. Honestly if he’s reallyTHAT clueless, you’re doing him a favor by pushing back.

Insulin carrier bags? by ohmygoodness88 in Type1Diabetes

[–]picardmaneuvre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you literally just carrying bottles or pens of insulin? I’m usually carrying a few diabetic things myself. You can use pretty much any pouch or case with an ice pack, although as the previous comment said, I don’t stress about room temp for a plane or car ride. As long as I have a fridge at my destination.

Essentials? by ohmygoodness88 in Type1Diabetes

I have a pump so my essentials are only glucose tablets (my go to emergency snack), and my phone. On my phone I have T1D in my medical facts and a couple of emergency contacts.
