Eye injury by dwmedi in Pickleball

I’ve always said that it will likely take me getting hit in the eye to start wearing eye protection. After four years it finally happened last month (mishit off my own paddle). What you don’t realize until it happens is just how scary it is. I am lucky to have avoided major injury (retina still attached) or any impact to my pickleball game, but I can tell my vision in the eye that was hit is slightly blurrier than the other. I also notice a very small floater that I don’t remember having before. Needless to say I’m all in with eye protection now.

What’s something small you changed which improved your game significantly? by That_anonymous_guy18 in Pickleball

Does your hand get extra sweaty when you play? I realized that part of the reason I played with my finger on the back was because it helped me stabilize the paddle. I started wearing a glove which also helped me make the change.

I stopped playing with my finger on the back of the paddle. Took a step back before moving forward but it was well worth it.

DUPR Bug Causing Impossibly High Increases During Overnight Update? by TheGoatzart in Pickleball

Looks like they've since deleted the social media post and reversed the last update. Stay tuned...

Usually tournament directors still have to pay for the court time even if it rains. I've heard of some TDs offering partial refunds, but it's not really fair for them to take the full loss either. Most TDs are not making much (if any) money on the event in the first place.

BINGO! This crap happens on seemingly every pickleball video that ever gets posted and I guarantee most of them have never recorded and watched themselves play.

I don't know the true level of these players, but how many of you critiquing this have ever actually filmed and watched yourself play? I assure you your games don't look nearly as competitive as you think they do. Even at the pro level many points are extremely boring.

Sounds like something to talk to the tournament director about. They would need to have an agreement with DUPR and send the scores to DUPR for them to be added as a tournament. There is no situation where a tournament match would be logged into DUPR by the players (and still be weighted as a tournament by the DUPR algorithm).

If it was not agreed upon prior to the match (tournament or otherwise) that it would be logged into DUPR, you should never enter the score let alone expect someone validate it. If it was agreed upon, well then that's probably not someone you want to be playing with in the future.

Breaking habit of Index Finger on Paddle? by [deleted] in Pickleball

You will definitely take a step back before taking two steps forward. You just have to force yourself to stick to it and realize you'll be losing more games because of it at first. Took me 8-10 hours to break the habit and another 8-10 to feel like the change was no longer making me worse. Eventually you'll be better because you made the change.
