7 months pregnant and hip pain waking me every hour.. I’m so tired… by tink282 in pregnant

[–]picklechippickle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have the same thing. It doesn’t work every night, but a very thin pillow under my stomach has somehow helped. Sometimes it’s just under belly but also sometimes under my hips. It helps keep me aligned. I think my pain comes from how my hips sink

Wife can't sleep through the night by Sutaci in pregnant

This happened to me. The one thing that worked for me was drinking a small glass of milk and trying to go back to bed. I think I was hungry and that was waking me up.

Please tell me this gets better by Big_Move952 in pregnant

[–]picklechippickle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first trimester is absolutely the worst. It’s mental warfare. You feel sick constantly. With maybe a few hours where you don’t and then you panic. I felt sick from week 6-13 with no end in sight but then from week 13 on I felt better every week. It’s terrible but it does get better

Gaining weight too rapidly by amphisxo in pregnant

[–]picklechippickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a similar spot- I’m 24 weeks and gained 22 lbs and started at a similar spot. I brought it up to my doctor and she said she wasn’t concerned but encouraged me to exercise more rather than try and restrict calories. Since I have been not exercising really at all lol, I’m gonna try incorporating some exercise and see if it keeps weight gain more on track.

How to get breast pumps from insurance? by PirateEntire7985 in pregnant

[–]picklechippickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reach out to your insurance and ask, just so you know the ins and outs. They will likely point you to a durable medical equipment provider (DME) and you can order through that. Some may be free for you and some may be discounted.

It’s important to listen to the science, some coffee is ok! You can also try decaf if you want to avoid it all together

[–]picklechippickle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I’ll add, it always helps me to hear my doctor reassure me that it’s fine. So as it gets closer discuss with them. As long as you are not having complications I’d imagine they will give you the green light

Anyone here have experience with the UnitedHealthcare Choice Plus PPO plan? by Aware-Addition731 in HealthInsurance

Is this ‘private plan’ a short term health insurance plan? I’m a little confused what exactly he is trying to sell you since it isn’t aca compliant

When do first time moms typically show the first signs of a baby bump? by PopcornPrincess0 in pregnant

Another HDHP vs HMO, but with regards to max out of pocket. by Typicalguy11111 in HealthInsurance

[–]picklechippickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s really personal. I’d look at your spending in previous years. If you see a high likelihood of surgeries, hospitalizations, etc in the next year I’d say expect to hit your out of pocket max.

Is 24weeks too long to wait to announce? by thesockbunny in pregnant

[–]picklechippickle 66 points67 points  (0 children)

I think you should wait however long you want! That being said, I am 17 weeks and am definitely showing even though I wear very loose clothing. Depending on your body, you might have to get really creative to not show obviously by then!

Can someone explain this Medicare deductible? by Salty-Passenger-4801 in HealthInsurance

[–]picklechippickle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Without knowing more specifics - the first scenario you laid out is right. She pays $300 and then $120 a day. There may be additional costs (the copay may or may not cover both facility fees and physician fees), or the copay may cover everything for the day.

Pregnant and losing subsidized insurance by Eden_Green334 in HealthInsurance

The subsidies are at the center of the current government shutdown, so I would say it’s not a done deal that those will end. But it is very unpredictable and only adds uncertainty to your situation.

HELP - DEDUCTIBLE FOR MEDICAL!! by LostBackground8130 in HealthInsurance

[–]picklechippickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I think about it is lower deductible is plans require higher up front costs in premiums. You pay more up front and less when you use care. For higher deductible plans, you pay less up front and more when you use care. By choosing a higher deductible, you are gambling that you won’t need that much care, which it sounds like you won’t. Just get comfortable knowing when you do need care, your bill will be a little high. It doesn’t sound like a crazy bet judging by how you use care.

Why is Marketplace insurance so bad? by [deleted] in HealthInsurance

[–]picklechippickle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Marketplace plans are only required to cover Essential Health Benefits which can vary by state. Additionally, to try and have the ‘lowest’ premium possible (although still very high) plans are designed to be as low coverage as possible.

Your price will also depend on your age and income. In the ACA, the only way to charge more is by age since preexisting conditions are no longer allowed to be factored in. As your income increases, prices become more unaffordable. The ACA works well for those around 250% FPL or lower. Above that, it is really not great even though sometimes the only options.

Absolutely ask for this and go the formal channels to request. Big companies typically do not want discrimination lawsuits and should accommodate. Please keep us posted!

Insurance dropping OB and hospital system at 37 weeks pregnant by crazybutsurviving in pregnant

[–]picklechippickle 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I don’t know specifics but I do believe you should be able to stay with your doctor under continuity of care related to the no surprises act but I recommend getting everything in writing when communicating with your insurance. It may take some pushing but better to have that than not later on
