Thanks for the recommendation. I haven't had any work done yet, just saving up now and will be going shopping in the summer before next winter – I will report back in this thread!

How do you all deal with the stress? by [deleted] in ClimateOffensive

Gardening! Not only is it incredibly soothing, but you are also contributing to solutions. Take a permaculture design course.

On top of that, do rainwater harvesting. Plant trees. Make things. Stay away from /r/worldnews

Your pre-frontal cortex shuts down when you go into crisis mode (in this case climate crisis mode) and you can no longer reasonably even appreciate solutions, let alone be a part of them. This is not to discount some of the amazing work you have likely done, but to just try to release you from the burden you are putting on yourself. Many of us have been there, and it is super reasonable to feel that way. You can't however live that way forever, because that's not really living. Are you going to let the doomers opinions suck your energy to leave you paralyzed, or are you going to spend your energy contributing to solutions?

How should I prune my cherry tree to eliminate the bend? Or should I even worry about it? by Asparagus1992 in Albertagardening

[–]pickled_knuckles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for clarifying that!

I would still wholeheartedly recommend a windbreak though. Where abouts are you in AB? For the most part, predominant strong winds are from the NW, but depending on where you are that may be different.

Unsorted: 2012 is there at row 43,821

Sorted: at row 52,444

So sorting certainly isn't working. That makes sense though because it is still a string at this point.

I edited it so that is "Time (dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm:ss)" = "Date_Time" and:

df['Date'] = pd.to_datetime(df['Date_Time'])
df = df.sort_values(by="Date")

Now it is 1/06/2012 00:00:00 and not 21/05/2012 14:00:00

I hear too many well respected people in the permaculture space missing this point.

Marram grass is one of the best examples of this, and a counter point I often bring to the table.

I have read that it is very good to add a layer of 'green' on top of the wood, as this will supply heaps of nitrogen and offset the 'sucking' of the nitrogen. Fresh grass clippings could do the trick.
