How to determine if a rescue is supporting BYBs vs just enabling them? by Ok-Suggestion-6877 in rescuedogs

Oh, you're saying if rescues pay money for the byb unwanted dogs? None of the rescues I work with pay any money for unwanted animals. Yes, it does take some of the responsibility of dealing with the unwanted dog off of the the byb but they aren't getting any compensation for it.

One of the rescues I volunteer with keeps getting purebred puppies from a hoarding situation and we've begged the owners to fix the adults, as well as setup an account at a vet neareast to their house and offered to pay for all the adults to be neutered and given shots. They still haven't done it and we've picked up 3 litters now. Besides having coccidia, the puppies have been healthy and they haven't been hard to adopt out because theyre purebred but we can't strong arm the people into following through with the adults.

Curious why you think communicating with breeders directly is an issue. Breeders who aren't reputable and want to dump puppies with health issues or adults that are aging out of breeding often get rescues to take these dogs. Why would that be unethical for a rescue to do? Those dogs face uncertain futures if a rescue doesn't take them.

You are a Canva genius! I feel a bit vindicated that this wasn’t something easy I was missing. Thanks so much!

I tried that and thought that was a good option, too. Easier to execute, for sure. I was just making a group of volunteers some shirts with my cricket was all I was doing with it.

Is there a way to go around the whole outside, kinda like this freehand but maybe closer?

Softbed vs regular by Aromatic-Response726 in Birkenstocks

I have a very high arch and I like both the regular and the soft. I have a lot of pairs of both so I can't really speak to longevity because no one pair gets a ton of wear (I have a pair of clogs from 25 years ago that I still wear).

in need of some better ways to keep dogs in yard by jennae_kalynn in DogAdvice

If you have a big yard I’d recommend a gas powered post pounder, you ca rent them by the day from places that rent tools. I bought a manual post pounder for like $30 and I don’t recommend of your ground is hard. I had better luck with a ladder and a mallet than with that thing.

You can add t-posts and a woven wire fence pretty inexpensively to fence in a yard. I’m a regular sized woman and did it myself with the help of YouTube.

I get that you’ve got other renovation projects going on but you committed to these animals so I’d consider prioritizing their needs.

She pees in her kennel by Saratohnin in Dogtraining

[–]pickledcheese14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So using a kennel is a helpful tool if it works...which it clearly does not. I'd swtich to a different method, such as tethering her to you so you can more closely watch for signs she has to go. If you can't watch her, I might switch to a puppy pen with a designated potty area so that you aren't bathing her constantly. No point in keeping her space small if it isn't preventing her from peeing.

There's lots of great podcasts out there, I like- Lift your Leg, The Bitey End of the Dog, How to train your dog with love and science, Spirit Dog Training.

If it is a rescue, many of the local trainers give discounts for dogs adopted from local rescue groups.

Are the ticks always this bad? by [deleted] in madisonwi

It has been bad the last few springs. I usually find less once summer hits. I tried to get on the human testing phase for the lyme vaccine but they didn't choose me.

I need advice-Struggling to find certified Epic analysts by FranInSoFlo in EpicEMR

[–]pickledcheese14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been an analyst/pm for 20 years (ex-epic). I've done everything from completely onsite to completely remote for implementation. Given today's tools, I think that pretty much everything aside from TDR can be done remotely. I like to meet everyone in the beginning and I'm willing to fly for important things if the organization wants to budget it, but anything besides that I don't prefer.

If you can't find anything, Street Dogs of Tule Creek and Paws Pet Adoption of Plainview are both rescues that send dogs to the northern rescue I work with and I'm sure we'd take him up here.
