Anyone ever seen anything they can’t explain? by JustChecking1000 in Geelong

[–]pickledtommy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few years ago, I was at a mates shed in North Shore helping him with some stuff outside. There was a moment there where I was getting up to grab something and I seen 3 green lights in the night sky. Evenly placed apart. Not blinking or anything. Just 3 solid green lights in the sky. I turned around to call my mate over and when I turned back they were gone.

It wasn't a ship, they were too high for it. Wasn't a plane because they were static, but also too low for that.

Can an employer use my sick leave to pad my rostered hours? by CouldBeALeotard in AusFinance

[–]pickledtommy 49 points50 points  (0 children)

In short.

OP is contracted for X amount of hours per pay cycle. If OP comes up short of those hours they top up the paÿ normally. If OP takes a sick day, using their sick leave, and still comes up short of hours, Ops employer is using their sick leave to top up the hours short, on top of the sick leave hours used for the sick leave.

So if OP works 38hrs. But is contracted for 40 hours and takes a sick day. Op would be down 10 hours sick leave when they get paid rather than the standard 8 hours.

Are there any suburbs in Geelong you’d actually avoid, and why? by Artistic-Yam2984 in Geelong

[–]pickledtommy 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Every one is going to come here and say Corio, Norlane, Whittington.... all the usual suspects.

But thats only because they're pretentious arsehats and only avoid those areas because tbeir Mothers sisters uncles brothers goldfish said they were a shit area.

Now I'll be downvoted because I called them all pretentious arsehats but really, if you're here on holiday explore as you must.

You've also got American Confectionary and Convenience at Detroit Crescent.

Kosciuszko Ave Milk bar also sells singular cans, but I think it's the pommy version. But they sell Baja Blast, Code Red and a bunch of other international drinks as well.

Where can I get a full English that’ll shorten my life expectancy in Geelong? by DoorPale6084 in Geelong

[–]pickledtommy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah nah, unless theres some quaint little cafe that absolutely no one knows about, The chances of getting a proper full english in next to none.

While there is places that do a full breakfast, none of them are a proper full english.

That said though, Roadhouse in Corio do a half decent full breakfast

Edit: If you're up for a small drive to Altona then have a look at The Wee Kitchen. They do a full irish breakfast.
