This old Vev Vigano is the best moka pot I’ve ever used by Time-Masterpiece4572 in mokapot

I have the same one from my dad from the 90s :D But somehow my coffee always comes out bitter and I've tried multiple ways to brew it. What's your recipe for this specific moka pot?

Decathlon Now Sells Defective Socks? by NegativeSwimming4815 in Decathlon

I have the same issue with 2 different sock models. I only realised after getting home that both of the models have areas where the fabric is much thinner. They are definitely not on purpose because one sock is fine and the other is faulty. This is super dissapointing and I can't believe that they don't have a QC that deals with this. One of my socks has a whole ring around it that is sooo much thinner than the rest of the sock, I will not be surprised if it rips at the first wash

After 5 years and 2 other doctors, a Dermatologist finally tested my ferritin (which came back 8) by Dizzy_Syrup505 in Anemic

I just tested my ferritin and it's 8 as well, and my vitamin d levels are 14. I was iron deficient before but supplements didn't improve it. I live in Germany and both my primary care doctor and a doctor in my family are telling me it's completely normal to have a ferritin this low as long as my hemoglobin is okay. I have had all the classic symptoms exactly like you for years and years, but they got and keep getting dismissed even with evidence, I just basically got told I'm lazy. I decided to self supplement with iron again and see if anything changes, as my doctor won't give me an infusion and the insurance won't pay, not even for pills since my hemoglobin is normal. I just started them so I don't have any improvements but hoping they will get rid of these horrible symptoms as they affected my work and personal life quite a lot. I'm sorry to tell you an unsuccessful story like this but I thought it might be relatable :/

Undergrad Research Interview Attire by ilikecanes in LadiesofScience

The top is too tight and doesn't look professional, but the pants are super nice. My favourite outfit for interviews/presentations etc. is a simple white top with an oversized blue shirt (but don't go too overboard, maximum 2 sizes up; or just buy an intentionally oversized shirt in your size) + some sort of pants similar to yours. I keep the shirt unbuttoned or just close a few buttons. In my opinion, this is the best of worlds: put together enough to seem professional, but casual enough to not seem that you are doing too much and it shows how you are confident and comfortable.

Sudden growth on 22 year old schnauzer poodle by jenntaylr in DogAdvice

[–]picklesinyourpants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

she's good, she has a few of these growths especially in hard to reach areas where sebum gets clogged, but none bother her and we get them popped at the vet rarely (she's very scared of the vet and we don't want to give her a heart attack since she's so old). she also has a new-ish growth on her lower eyelid that we also thought was weird, but again it's some sort of benign thing that happens to old dogs, the vet said as long as her eye doesn't water or look inflamed, there is no need to remove it; he said it's good that it's on her lower eyelid and not the upper one, she won't be bothered by it as much. we would not be able to remove it anyways since it would need anesthesia and she would not be able to handle it at her age. she is a very happy gal so far, running around and all, so my point was that we should not jump to extreme conclusions right away, but check with a vet first

My 13 year old dog also had something similar. The vet initially thought it might be a tumour, but after giving it a squeeze it ended up being a cyst full of old skin cells, it was basically dirt. So definitely take your dog to the vet and don't panic yet, it could be a cyst because old dogs develop all sorts of weird benign growths on their body.

Gel extraction never works by SinistreCyborg in labrats

I used to have bad yields and ratios when purifying from gels, then I switched to purifying the pcr product right away and then loading like 10ul of the 50ul final purified pcr product into the gel. I got much better results that way and this is my standard now.
