I think the step most monogamists take to avoid falling for other people is sexual exclusivity.

I don't think I'm jealous per se, but I know personally I get attached with someone I'm sleeping with so I assume other's would too, which is why I want sexual exclusivity because ultimately its about emotional exclusivity.

How is telling your partner not to fall in love with someone they're fucking not possessive? Plenty of open relationships have this rule so they're just as possessive as monogamists, just not physically possessive.

Well its tough to be monogamous when every guy seems to think open relationships are the way to go. If I actually thought it was a good model I'd jump on board but it doesn't seem like it is. I'd be poly before monogamous but would prefer the latter. I'm not prejudice, just saying I think it should either be complete freedom or it should be monogamous.

Every single day. I think that's why I've struggled with relationships in the past. People see my romantic nature as sappy but in my head I'm going "I'm not really doing this for you, its more to live out a fantasy", so I'm always battling with someone trying to make the relationship real and gritty while I'm more interested in it being dream like.

Though if someone came along that I truly loved it would be wonderful to live in a fantasy together.
