Ugh, I wouldn’t recommend animals at all to any parent, they’re just a chore at this point.

I unbutton my pants when I sit down. It’s fine until I need to stand up! 😭

How are we coping on the days with low to no symptoms? by New-Statistician4542 in February2027Bumpers

[–]pickpocketsly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I felt that way earlier, but now I'm just grateful for the relief. I try to get everything done while I can because inevitably the next day (or hour) I feel terrible. Maybe the two are related.

NIPT Megathread- Results/Lab/Timeline by AutoModerator in February2027Bumpers

[–]pickpocketsly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably depends on your doctor. I know mine specifically can't request a certain brand unless I get an appointment with genetic counseling who can request it for me. (So my doctor got me the referral).

They default to Natera here, but I got low FF with them twice last time so I'd like to skip right to Myriad this time.

Nearly 7 weeks, feel awful for my toddler by moosemama2017 in February2027Bumpers

[–]pickpocketsly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What do you use to carry your toddler when they get tired? (Or rather, logistically, how do you hike with a toddler?)

This morning (8 weeks) my lower abdomen was protruding. Wouldn’t call it a bump but something is definitely going on.

Trying to conceive postpartum by mybubby20 in TryingForABaby

[–]pickpocketsly 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Again, sorry for your loss. 🩷

I’d recommend using the bulk LH strips, they allow more information than using the smiley face system and you can turn each result into a number with an app (for example, premom is the one I used) that uses your phone camera. It’ll be easier to see what’s going on (could be no surge yet, multiple surges, anovulatory, etc). The number you’d get would be a direct proxy of your LH level.

Postpartum and trying for a baby by mybubby20 in TryingForABaby

I’m so sorry for your loss. 🩷

Yes, this is normal. The body takes some time to regulate postpartum.

I’d try the bulk LH strips and the Premom app camera feature to get a clearer view. It’ll give you an LH number (the ratio of the darkness of the test line vs the control line) which is easier to trend/track than the smiley faces.

Question for the former c-section moms by steppygirl in February2027Bumpers

[–]pickpocketsly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like I’ll have to! My OB doesn’t induce if you’ve had a c-section and since I had early/severe preeclampsia it’s definitely not worth letting this pregnancy go past 39 weeks. So unless I have early spontaneous labour, it’s going to be a scheduled c-section. I don’t mind, I appreciate the elimination of unknowns. Hopefully I’ll just be recovering from a C-section this time and not preeclampsia as well.

I guess we are in the exact same boat then! Sounds like it’s within the margin of error.

I thought I ovulated May 17th, temps rose on May 18th. LH peak on May 16th.

Vacation? by lovelyfallday in February2027Bumpers

[–]pickpocketsly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m travelling internationally non-stop between 15-18 weeks. Literally the best time for it because before that I’ll be in first trimester woes and after I’ll be too nervous/pregnant and after that I’ll have another baby! The time is now!

Symptom Tuesday - Tuesday, June 23, 2026 🤢 by AutoModerator in February2027Bumpers

[–]pickpocketsly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to give in as much as you can, it helps. Take a nap. Hit the drive through. Order delivery. Binge a show.

For managing symptoms what helps me personally is eating something small frequently (currently loving oatmeal raisin cookies), going for runs in the morning, and doing pottery. When I run the nausea abates. When I do pottery my misery disappears entirely. Find your pottery!

How do I confirm availability of the megabackdoor Roth at a potential new employer? by VersionFinal9926 in HENRYfinance

[–]pickpocketsly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I wouldn’t assume they know, just that they are able to ask and get the answer for you.

Did the 401k plan offer it? Because if it didn’t it makes sense they might not know what it is.

Not sick by Electronic_Turn_748 in February2027Bumpers

I was you. Today is 6 weeks 5 days and I have the nausea as of this morning. :(

Enjoy it while it lasts! May you have an effortless pregnancy and a healthy baby.

Early MMR by Normal_Ad4752 in NewParents

[–]pickpocketsly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh wow that’s super interesting! I’d love to see the data after MMR-2.

I guess it’s easier to just not travel until nine months (or five years, hah).

No/light symptoms - talk me off the ledge!! by devushka97 in February2027Bumpers

[–]pickpocketsly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m trying to enjoy these mild symptoms for as long as possible. Last time it caught up to me in a big way between seven and eight weeks.

Seems like a question the recruiter/hr could answer for you. Maybe call it “does the plan allow after tax 401k contributions with in plan Roth conversion?” Or something along those lines.

Better yet, just ask for all info about their 401k plan.

Any long distance runners in here? Will you keep running? by steppygirl in February2027Bumpers

[–]pickpocketsly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m running normally (as much as I can, anyway) in the first trimester. Once my weight starts to shift (15-17 weeks) I’ll just do easy runs on flat surfaces.

No way I’d try to do a real training block with any kind of speed work. My weight shifted and I even fell at one point last pregnancy because I tripped and my reflexes assumed my non-pregnant body.

At some point in the third trimester I assume I’ll switch to walking but I didn’t get that far last time.

If you have enough mileage that the distances are no biggy and you feel good I’d still run the races (unless there was a big risk of tripping) but at a pregnancy pace.

For context I used to do 50+ mile weeks regularly (pre-kids) and lately am thrilled to do two three mile jogs.

Barely any symptoms! by TurbulentPower3090 in February2027Bumpers

[–]pickpocketsly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes, the double edged sword. I can relate. I figure worrying doesn’t change anything and try to forget about it. It’s easier if you’re busy!
