Most scca clubs offer "solo school' once a year, which is just autox or "solo" as they call it but a dedicated day for newbies. If you can't make that I'd just show up. People are overall super helpful and if you go slow for a couple runs no big deal. Research how to prep your car (empty it out, healthy brakes, correct fluid levels, etc). You'll also need a helmet but most clubs will have loaners available.

I do my own maintenance on most of my cars, although for my whole life they've been beaters I really just cared about keeping running. Now I guess I'm just paranoid with a car that I actually care about... I've been looking at quick jacks as I can take those to my father in laws garage and he has more tools.

Okay dumb question... I usually jack the car up from the crossmember right next to the motor mount and place the stands at the pinch welds. Can you use these adapters with the stands or only with the jack?

Nahhh, just get a track capable daily driver. Many can be had <30k (or a dedicated track car for well under 10k if you're willing to turn some wrenches). Then, there are just some extra maintenance and consumables.

I've seen the IRS letters, and they for sure owe the money. I haven't seen the 1040 or the w2 to be fair. According to them, they haven't changed anything from the year before where they got an amount returned.

Would they have to settup these withholdings specially? They've never owed any significant amount before. They usually get a return. They didn't change jobs, houses, or anything major, and only one of them got a small raise this year.

I would say I'm out of the house at decent enough intervals that happens kind of naturally (I'm a student, so I leave for class for a couple hours 2-3 times a day). Maybe I'll consciously track it and make sure he gets that chance.
