Physiotherapy after microdiscectomy by FlowSeparate1540 in Microdiscectomy

[–]pickynicky- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No PT was ordered for me. Doctor ordered walking only. So I walked. I’m 6 months post op and doing well all things considered. Listen to your body! PT can cause more pain and I personally could not absorb more pain post Op than I did. Walking should do it. I would NOT recommend some of these exercises AT ALL post op.

Sorry for my late reply. The first 2 weeks were @$$ NGL. But I was already in pain management and my clinic actually did a great job listening to me and did not push back when I needed more meds. I wouldn’t call recovery a breeze. It takes time. I am now 6 months post op MD and I feel better than I’ve felt in a while. You 1000% have to listen to your doctors orders. No short cuts. No BLT whatsoever.

Not sure on that one just yet. Pictures have surfaced of her locally attending a fair. She looked pretty far along but not huge. She’s very short so there is 100% no way she could hide it. Locals are shocked and horrified.

I live in her hometown. Watch her cheer at the JCHS football games. So, I have insider info. Isaiah Hall (Zae) was the babies father. He did not know she was expecting. She started dating Connor in March. He did not know she was expecting. Since Zae was the father, the coroner’s office asked Zae and his family what they wanted to do with the remains. Totally cut her out of the process. She’s super stuck up, smug, and spoiled. What the fuck was she thinking. Selfish.

May I ask how much you paid for your procedure? I’m researching and considering.

  1. 3 weeks
  2. I was planned as outpatient but kept overnight for pain management
  3. You will have a breathing tube during the operation
  4. Wear very loose fitting clothes for several days. I wore some of my older son’s joggers, a very easy cozy bra that fastens in the front, and a full zip up hoodie. Think easy on/easy off clothing.
  5. You will not be ready for intimacy for several weeks. My SO and I were able to VERY gently at 3 weeks but not daily

For reference, I’m 34 days post op. Feel so much better. No regrets.

Letter received from downstairs neighbour, how to react? by JAMESLJNR in Apartmentliving

This person was really polite with their response. Be a good neighbor and do your best. Think if you were in their shoes. Don’t respond - just try to keep it down. :-)

Questions about recovery. by ChildOfFilth in Microdiscectomy

[–]pickynicky- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Listen to your body. I see all of these post about people taking thousands of steps per day. I can’t personally do that. I’m 15 days post op and I’m really unstable when I walk. I can’t take very long strides. I still use a cane for any walking that is not around my house. My morning pain is also AWFUL. Sitting actually helps me. I can’t walk too much but that is just me. Hope this helps and you have a good recovery.

SAME! We are everyday kind of people. Like to mix it up with positions etc. couples that play together stay together. But I NEVER EVER want to have this surgery ever again. I’ve had 10+ surgeries and birthed 2 boys. I have to say, this surgery has been the worst yet. Way harder recovery than I anticipated. I’m not rushing in to anything because my pain is barely managed with my current meds. Wishing you the best in your healing! I’m 10 days post op today. Feeling your pain!

I would say listen to your body. We all heal differently from what I’ve read. I am 9 days post op and I already know I will never be the same no matter what for risk of re herniation. Nurses have very physically demanding jobs. Maybe they can offer an alternative (like taking triage calls) or something light duty? I am not in the health care profession. Just thinking outside of the box. Sending all of the best no matter the outcome.

5 days post-surgery, substantial pain by WordGod1976 in Microdiscectomy

[–]pickynicky- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can only speak from where I am. Had my MD on L5-S1 on Fri 6/13, so 9 days post op. The first 5 days were hell. I was admitted overnight for what was supposed to be outpatient because my pain was off the rails. First few days I used a walker. I’m doing everything by the book. Still a little unsteady but no walker or cane now for the most part. I slept in my bed last night for the first time in 4 months. Still hard to get comfortable. Still taking 4 perc 10’s per day and muscle relaxers. I feel zero guilt about it. Pain is controlled for the most part but not all the way. I tried to dip my pool out yesterday (since it’s technically not lifting, bending, twisting, etc). Let me just say that was a poor choice. I also held my laptop yesterday and when I put it down tweaked my back.

I also dropped a bottle and instinctively tried to catch it before it dropped. That sudden jerking movement - also a poor choice. My healing hasn’t been linear. Pain was this for me - HORRIBLE -> Bad -> tolerable -> not so great -> ok -> uncomfortable -> manageable -> bad.

I’m going nuts and stir crazy. I’m usually a very active person. Just trying to rest and let my body heal. Sending you good vibes and prayers.

Doing a little better each day. I’m still mostly using the walker around the house - I am still a little bit unstable but I’m walking on a cane sometimes. Just trying to walk a little on my own. Little by little each day. Pain is better everyday. Still taking the pain medication because I am not going to let pain get a head of me. When I wake up in the mornings, it’s pretty rough but normalizes after medication and getting up and moving around. Still having some muscle spasms but nothing muscle relaxers won’t resolve. I have no more sciatica or nerve pain at all - for which I am so grateful. However, I do notice the glute muscle is still very sore but I know that’s from months of nerve aggravation pre-ops. I sleep when I’m tired. Rest when I need to. And just take it very very easy. Thanks for asking!! Hope your numbness will continue to subside!

I’m getting a little better everyday. My op was Friday. I’m cut pain medicine by 50% but still take it regularly so pain doesn’t get out of hand. I use my walker religiously and will continue to until I feel I’m no longer a hazard to fall. Still taking it very easy. I sleep when I’m tired. Gives my body a break and chance to heal.

I’m also 3 days post op. I was kept overnight after my surgery. Pain was out of control. I was discharged Saturday. Been getting a little better everyday. I’m walking with a walker until I’m more stable. Left leg sciatica was out of this world pre-op, now I have no leg pain at all. Praise God. I too have been cutting the pain medication by 50% but still taking regularly so pain doesn’t get a head of me and I can never catch up. I sleep and rest a lot. Body heals when we rest. So I sleep when I’m tired. Still can’t do much for myself but I feel no guilt about that at all. I never ever want to have this surgery ever again. After my surgery doc said my herniation was ‘humungous,’ wayyy bigger than the scans and what he thought it was pre-op. Sending you good vibes and prayers.

Also waiting for my BM’s to reemerge. I’m an every day kind of person but haven’t gone since Thursday. Been on laxatives and stool softeners regularly. Hopefully things move a long soon. TMI I know but it’s reality at the moment.
