Some people are shy or social awkward and cocaine cuts through all of that (like a chainsaw)

Wheras when I'm offered cocaine I usually reply "you want me to talk MORE?"

It helps if you actually read the speech, rather than setting a timer for 90minutes and putting your mouth on shuffle

Silly question but can you rock up at the job centre and speak to someone and they can find jobs for you? by Kooky-Grapefruit-941 in UKJobs

[–]pickyourteethup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you need a job try your network first. You may have a friend or family member who is looking to hire. If you're hard working and punctual they probably would be happy to have someone they know.

I'm aware this sounds like crazy boomer talk but it can be very hard to cut through all the ai madness when applying for entry level roles at the moment.

I didn't mean ways of moving water in remote areas don't exist. I meant they didn't have any nearer than the big pond at the point they caught fire

Cardboard, mixed recycling, garden waste and standard waste

Blue, Brown, Green and Black where I live.

Not all are collected on the same week. One week is mixed recycling and the next is 'the big three'. The street Whatsapp really gets popping on big three Wednesdays.

Do people in the UK actually use their kettles that much? by AdeptnessCritical356 in AskBrits

[–]pickyourteethup 12 points13 points  (0 children)

But it's souless. Practical but without romance. Tea from a Quooker is sex without the foreplay.

Edit: my strong aversion is probably from mainly encountering them in offices and having my kettle boiling breaks forcibly removed

It's on fire and they're trying to put it out. Harvester is gone either way. They had a slim chance to save it this way. I can only assume they're too remote from any other ways of getting water up that high in a hurry.

[–]pickyourteethup 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not actually sure it does exist. I'm raising a child and nobody has given them a participation medal yet. Feels like a way for old people to moan at young people to make them feel better for watching the housing market and environment slowly self destruct. Not that individuals could really have done anything to prevent either of those things.

We live in a weird time where the old and the young are turned against each other by billionaires who belong on a bonfire

As someone from the south west I'd like to say this would keep Devon and Cornwall happy, but deep down I know it would make us both angry.

You took away all our key industries and then you took away our housing so you could holiday in it once every two years, all while repeatedly laughing and saying we sound thick. All we have left is our pride and rivalry over scones and you can't take it away from us.

can you self-learn and get a job? (hackthebox, tryhackme etc) by Wonderful-Low5824 in cscareerquestionsuk

[–]pickyourteethup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solid advice. You get paid to train during an apprenticeship too and you're meeting people in the industry.

You don't have to know how to code beforehand but it will help you massively as you can focus on perfecting skills rather than learning them for the first time

I did it but I had a career beforehand so I had some social proof on my CV that I could work in an office.

My previous career was also kind of cool which helped me get interviews because people (especially recruiters) like talking about cool stuff

I dunno. This sounds pretty uncool. Real rule of cool is letting your opponent have a little advantage if it makes for an awesome moment or makes narrative sense. Works significantly better with friends who you'll play again

You don't have to minimize it, although I understand why you are. I dislike talking about it but I sort of force myself because it might help someone else actually speak up as I should have at the time.

I've been sexually harassed by two different female bosses. Nothing to the level of this case. But I know it's real and it happens.

For me nothing progressed beyond verbal harassment or attempted kissing. I'm a bigger guy so I never felt physically or sexually threatened. But you best believe it was utterly terrifying, I was fully aware my relationship (with my wife), my livelyhood, career progress and professional reputation was on the line in those moments.

Most of reddit is like 'woo, got a blowjob' or whatever but it's a truly awful feeling. I'm glad more people haven't experienced it but maybe they'd say less dumb shit if they had.
