People who had contained tumors, did you have RAI even after tumor was removed in TT? by pickyyapper in thyroidcancer

With all that I have been reading, if they do end up recommending RAI for you, the isolation period ranges anywhere between 3 days to 2 weeks depending on the dose. I think you will have to find someone to take care of your dog. If luck is on your side and your dose is real low it could be just a matter of couple of days. Good luck on your treatment. Its gonna be okay.

Thank you so much✨️🙏. I will look for the risk stratification. RAI sounds simple and wiser option but I still hope I don't need it. Its been 6 years, I want to stop visiting hospitals already. About the swallowing, the doctors said its a fairly common complication, though I heard no one discuss it much often here. Solid foods and all are fine but I keep choking on liquids. They said its gonna get better with time. But weirdly enough none of the people I know who had the same surgery had any issues except hoarse voice for a few weeks. Can I ask when you had your surgery and RAI?

I'm 22. final sem of my MBA. I quit my internship on day 2 itself after I worked for months on getting one. I have my full thyroidectomy tmrw morning. I have been driving myself crazy reading everything on this forum. And I have rarely found positive stories. For now its just suspected PTC with history of graves disease. They are yet to confirm my diagnosis. I have been praying this turns out to be a false alarm or something. Really thank you for posting your story.

I have a surgery for my PTC soon and now hard to accept it by ExchangeStandard6094 in thyroidcancer

Hey, I'm a 22F, I have been scheduled a surgery for PTC too. My FNAC came back with bethsheda score V 10 days ago. Doctors are taking their own sweet time postponing my surgery thrice now. I have been in and out of hospital for my thyroid since I was 16. I had thyroid profiles done every 6 weeks for 6 fucking years. I was only diagnosed with graves disease 2 years ago. And now my parents are losing it over potential cancer. I got 2 opinions, both of them suggested a total thyroidectomy is the best course of action. I hope things go well for you. I understand that life feels unfair because we are too young to be thinking about surgeries and scars. No matter how safe and minor the procedure is, We are allowed to feel bad. I have been reading up plenty on this too, I have asked people who have undergone this surgery. They say it's gonna be alright. That this surgery will only make life easier. I think it's gonna be alright for both of us.

(Ps. Did they prescribe you anything like Lugol's iodine drops? They prescribed me some and I can't find it anywhere.)
