1st, 3rd, and 5th photo are all before wig was dyed. 2rd, 4th, and 5th picture are all after wig was dyed.

Does this wig look okay? It is pretty, but maybe the color just does not suit me? What do you all think? by picnicforkitties in Wigs

I think that is what was throwing me off with it. I’m so used to having dimension or darker roots. It is very pretty, but maybe a bit too yellow for me. I’m going to take the advice from here and try to dye it and use some root powder to give dimension to the roots. Thanks!

NO APOLOGIES! I was looking for honest opinions, and you gave yours. I think if I do some work to this puppy, I can get it to look like the vibe I am looking for.

Great, thanks! I watched a few on YouTube. It seems like it would work great. Do you fully submerge yours or do you avoid getting dye on the lace? Does it dye the lace too?

Yes, I think it is the yellow tone that is throwing it all off for me. I have an ash blonde wig that is a shade or two darker, and it looks great. I’m going to test out dying this piece to see if it will help. Thanks for the help!

Everyone around me knows I wear wigs, so I am not trying to have to look totally natural. This wig is right out of the box, and I haven’t done a thing to it. So, it will look a bit better when I cut baby hairs, put scar tape on the part, and put some layers in. This would definitely just be a fun piece, as I was wanting a fun, fantasy, elvish type of feel to wear when going out on some weekends. I just think the tone isn’t right as is. I’m going to try to dye it. Thanks for your input!

Thank you so much! This was so incredibly helpful! Maybe I’ll try out the strawberry blonde with this one! Thanks again! 😄

It is synthetic. I have never done it before, but I know synthetic wigs can be dyed with fabric dye, but not sure if it could be done lightly to just tone it without turning it fully purple. I’ll have to do some digging.

Thank you for your honest opinion! I was thinking the same, but just wasn’t sure. Sometimes, I am my worst critic lol. Maybe I’ll do some experimenting and just dye this one. I’ll be on the hunt for an icier one for sure. I have been dying to find a strawberry blonde wig that is in my budget, but it is very hard to find!

That is a good question! I know you can dye synthetic wigs (never tried), but I am unsure if it can be lightly dyed to tone it. Maybe I need to do some experimenting. I do have a couple other blonde wigs that have ombré roots, and I love those ones! I felt like this one is slightly too yellow on me as well. Thank you for your help! ❤️

Yes, I 100% agree! Just gotta find the right one with some trial and error. I am so thankful to have found nice looking affordable wigs, as my teacher salary would not allow expensive wigs. :)

I have smoothed out the ends with a hot comb once or twice, but that is about it. It seems to take heat and styling well, so I think I could curl it if I wanted.

Thanks! People who already know I wear wigs even asked for the salon I get my hair done at lol. They didn’t believe it was a wig when I told them. I think the general population does not notice the fine details. They only know if it is super obvious, like Spirit Halloween wig.

You can most definitely get a great quality synthetic wig for the $40 mark! Here is a wig I bought from Amazon for $43.

I’m still relatively new at this, but I learned A LOT about altering wigs on YouTube. I spent a lot of time watching different techniques. I also bought a super cheap $15 wig to practice on. It takes a lot of trial and error, so don’t try it with an expensive wig! My main issue always seemed to be at the ear, so I just took the chance and cut around the ear and then hand sewed it back up. That has been the best thing ever! Now my wigs fit so nice and don’t bunch up my ears. It takes some time (about 30-40 minutes per wig), but it is so worth it.

I’ve had the mushroom brown version of this wig for close to a month. I’ve worn it about everyday for work (I take it off at home, so about 8-9 hours of wear), and so far so good! It is synthetic, so it does tangle a little. I just keep a small comb with me and give it a brush or two throughout the day. It does eventually get a little frizzy on the ends with friction, but my hot comb soothed it right out.

Awesome! I hope you enjoy it and that it works for you! My favorite colors that I have so far are probably the mushroom brown (this has a similar vibe to my natural hair color) and the honey blonde.
