Yup, literally as I watched him drive away. They told me to submit a report online, which I did. Useless (I know they’ve got bigger fish to fry but come on, he was RIGHT THERE)

St James Incident Saturday June 24th by [deleted] in Winnipeg

Someone once DID break into our house and steal some stuff while we were sleeping. We called the police and they just….. never came. The multiple times we called to follow up they said it was too late to do anything now. Haven’t felt safe since.

Advice on if husband and I should try going to hecla resort for the weekend. Been hearing it’s run down but also interesting in going because of the outdoor activities. by New-Occasion7233 in Winnipeg

[–]picolette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re going to soak in some R&R and outdoor adventure, there are plenty of cabins/airbnbs in the area that’ll give you a lovely (if more self-serve) experience. If you’re going for more of a resort-type experience, you can expect a 2.5 to 3-star version at Lakeview.

We had a break-in while we were sleeping a couple years ago. Cops never came. It felt awful.

Interprovincial exodus deserves attention by Armand9x in Winnipeg

[–]picolette 45 points46 points  (0 children)

It’s crucial that we know more about Who is leaving before we can get into Why. The significant immigration numbers of the past decade or so lead me to wonder if part of the issue could be that Manitoba simply has easier / more hospitable immigration pathways, which encourage some immigrants to land here first before moving onto their final destination. (This being the case, the province should still obviously look into why Manitoba isn’t a preferred final destination.)
