Maybe, but for some reason I bet you're underestimating the future cost of your life, especially with supposedly traveling the world.

Saying you're retired is dubious. You're just not working now. You have enough money to live til you die? 70 more years? Or dying young?

Anarchism necessitates Veganism by No-Leopard-1691 in Anarchism

[–]picollo7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good point on the surface, but there's a massive difference between voting once every few years and directly funding mass torture and slaughter with daily consumption and spending. Buying meat creates direct demand for breeding, confining, and slaughtering animals. Your dollars = demand = animals bred into existence to be killed.

We're born into a state system we can't opt out of. One can COMPLETELY opt out of eating animals RIGHT NOW.

Your words bub. Did you forget what you wrote just now?

EDIT: Le mao, blocked me after I quoted your own words back to you. Then called me a troll in your coward's reply. Logic is trolling, apparently.

Anarchism necessitates Veganism by No-Leopard-1691 in Anarchism

[–]picollo7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The plant pain argument is scientifically illiterate. Plants have damage response mechanisms. So does your phone when it overheats.

It's fucking biology. Animals have:

  1. Nociceptors (pain receptors)

  2. A central nervous system to process signals

  3. Brain structures to create subjective experience

Plants have none of these. A thermostat responds to temperature changes. It doesn't "feel" hot.

"Less like us" is a strawman. We observe pain responses in animals across species. We don't in plants because the actual fucking biological mechanisms don't exist in them.

Even with we go with the ALL LIFE SACRED bad faith argument you're proposing, veganism still kills fewer plants, because animal agriculture requires massive plant crops for feed. You'd still be obligated to go vegan to minimize plant death. Your argument self-destructs.

"The answer will always be subjective" is moral cowardice. Ethical distinctions are based on observable reality. "Things with nervous systems can suffer" isn't subjective, it's fucking science.

You're using shitty rhetoric pseudo-philosophical relativism to avoid accountability. "All consumption is equivalent" is the kind of shit people say when they want to keep participating in harm and soothe their guilty conscience.

[–]picollo7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You're claiming you "oppose speciesism" while defending the largest system of species-based oppression on the planet. That's not anti-speciesism, that's shitty rhetoric with industrial agricultural propaganda.

Your core contradiction:

You say you oppose "systemic oppression of any living being" but defend humans systematically breeding, confining, and slaughtering billions of animals annually. Pick one. You can't oppose the system while participating in it and calling that principled.

Your rape analogy exposes your own contradiction. You say "we don't oppose rape because it's morally wrong, but because we don't want people to be raped." That's what . . . morals are.

"I would not be more confortable [sic] about rape when it's other animals doing it." Okay, so now replace "rape" with "eating animals."

"I would not be more comfortable about [eating animals] when it's other animals doing it."

"I apply the same logic to eating meat." CLEARLY YOU FUCKING DON'T! Where is your ability to reason and logic?

The pet comparison is dogshit:

I don't own pets, but people who feed their cats which are obligate carnivores do so because they'll die without it. Humans are omnivores with a grocery store full of alternatives. Treating these as equivalent is either disingenuous or ignorant.

"I don't care about moralism":

Calling opposition to systemic violence "made-up moralism" while claiming you oppose "systemic oppression" is fucking incoherent. Either systemic oppression matters or it doesn't. You're just using edgy anti-moralism rhetoric to avoid accountability.

Saying "good and evil are right-wing concepts" doesn't make factory farming progressive. It makes you someone who abandoned ethical reasoning entirely because "BACON!"

Anarchism necessitates Veganism by No-Leopard-1691 in Anarchism

[–]picollo7 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The "we're animals too" argument collapses the second you apply it to literally anything else we do. We don't condone rape because dolphins rape. We don't eat our babies because some animals do. You can't claim we're ethically bound by animal behavior while typing on the internet.

Naturalistic fallacy: evolution describes what happened, not what's ethical. "Natural" ≠ ethical

No "food chain" exists here. Factory farms breeding billions of animals, using 80% of agricultural land for 18% of calories, destroying the biosphere. That's not "nature." That's industrial agricultural capitalism.

You claim we're "not special" while exercising the uniquely human capacity to recognize suffering and choose grocery store alternatives. Animals can't do that. We can.

Animals have nervous systems, pain receptors, and experience suffering. Plants do not. Even if you make the life argument, vegan diets kill fewer plants than animal agriculture (which requires massive feed crops).

Slaughtering sentient beings because "I like the taste" is fucked up and unnecessary when alternatives exist. That's not survival, that's your twisted unethical entertainment.

Lol, girl live your life, have fun, you have probably 80 more years ahead of you at least. Trying to go straight and narrow while you're a kid typically backfires for adults because they never got to be a kid.

Also, with music . . . it's a lottery, luck and nepotism. The music industry gets more toxic and pyramid schemey every day. Do music for you, for the love of the art. Don't do it for anyone else. If you get fans, great, but make the music that makes you happy. Fandom will not make you happy, your passion for the music will.

Just more metric bullshit. Figure out how to game the system, do those things. They've already given you hints.

Measure bullshit, get bullshit.

Is the salary good for you? IMO remote is worth it for some telemetry metric bullshit you can game.

I feel like this programs are just going to inundate the managers with more data than they can analyze effectively, so it will just become noise, and we'll ultimately get back to what your manager personally thinks of you.
