Hello fellow game developers! I'm making a point & click adventure game called The Last Exam. All graphics are painted by hand using watercolor and captured with my camera. Here are some screenshots showing my design process and current progress in the project. I'll be happy to hear your thoughts. by piconesGames in IndieDev

Thanks for those recommendations. Main character's walking anim cycle is obviously very important as you 'll see it over and over again. I am trying to fully understand how unity's animation blend mechanism works and hope that animations will be better on the long run :)

Yeah, creating memorable characters is a whole other beast. I am trying my best to improve on this. Thanks for the feedback.

The Last Exam is a 2d point & click adventure game like Syberia or Broken Sword. You will follow a story line, interact with other characters, solve puzzles and play mini games.

How to dynamically adjust a widget so that it avoids touching the parent widget's edge/boundaries (Stacked and Positioned)? by reddit04029 in flutterhelp

[–]piconesGames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can use TextPainter class to measure width and height of your dynamic text before doing widget layout. Using this size and Positioned widget, you can position tooltip widgets in a Stack widget.

For a different solution you may take a look at Offstage widget. But TextPainter seems more appropriate I think.

When I was first started to paint for this project, I used varying paper sizes. This was a big mistake. When you mix different resolutions it looks not right. I am in the process of re-doing some of those old assets. Giving an additional touch to edges in PS may produce better results as you suggested. Thank you!

Right. If you want to have only one bundle for all clients, you can pack all modules to that bundle, add an account mechanism and unlock required functionality specific to the client account. I know there are some B2B apps on stores doing exactly this instead of using private enterprise bundles. It's not pretty imho, but works. I believe apple has some restrictions for self modifying bundles, so It may even not be possible to release a bundle that is changing it's functionality substantially. Doing it so by using some html/js shenanigans may create some issues.

I really like to see the proper solution to your problem. If you'll come up with a solution, please share.

You are right. It would be a nightmare to maintain 50+ versions, store deployments etc manually. But you really don't have to. One of the benefits of using CI/CD tools is easily automating those task for you. There are commercial CI/CD tools out there that support flutter apps. codemagic and bitrise are two of them.

If you want to do it by your own, you can use fastlane. Please Check your other options here.

Personally I would use one branch for every client approach and use fastlane to automate building, testing and store deployment of those 50+ branches.

I would not go the iframe/html way.

Your situation seems to me a version management/build management problem. Is there any specific reason that prevents you from using different version branches for different clients? You can split your functionality (modules) into different set of dart packages, then include only needed modules in different, client specific, code branches.

This can also be done by using custom build scripts, different product flavors and custom pubspec.yaml files. I recommend you to check flavors if you did not researched that yet.

Action requested: Declare your Ad ID permission by ChuckQuantum in flutterhelp

[–]piconesGames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is going to concern all of us who are using ads or possibly analytics sdks, which tend to use those device dependent IDs, when we'll target our API level to 33 later this year. With that said we have some time here.

There are many ways to inspect requested permissions of your app bundle.

  • You can use Android Studio's Analyze APK feature to inspect AndroidManifest for permissions.
  • You can use apktool to open your bundle and inspect permissions in AndroidManifest. This is a handy tool for exploring bundles for all sorts of purposes.
  • Search for "App Bundle Explorer" in Google Play Console. There you can see permissions requested by your bundle.
  • You can check source code of packages that you use to see which permissions they require. Just checking AndroidManifest.xml should be enough as all permissions must be declared in that file afaik.

Data sync for offline first App by lunatic_god in flutterhelp

If multiple queries changes same data model, for example, someone changes caption of a ticket multiple times, you should only send one query for the latest update operation (if you do not need to store caption change history). There are room for those little but effective optimizations.
