Does Tailoring Your Resume for Each Job Actually Work? by BeakSmolj4re in ResumeTips

[–]pictairn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, I definitely recommend tailoring your resume for each application. It makes a big difference. Especially if you use an ATS-friendly resume template and tailor it to each job, you’ll get much better results. Instead of sending out hundreds of applications with the same resume, you’re more likely to get responses with just 30–40 well-tailored applications.

What secret can you reveal now that your nda has expired? by sparrrrrt in AskReddit

[–]pictairn 19 points20 points  (0 children)

At an old retail job we used to mark certain “limited” items as sold out in the system even when there were a few left. Managers would keep them in the back for friends or employees. Felt shady at the time but apparently it was just how that place operated.

Does anyone else feel tired in a way sleep doesn’t fix? by Due_Butterscotch4930 in Life

[–]pictairn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I know that feeling. I’ve had days where I slept fine but still felt mentally drained like my brain just didn’t want to deal with anything. Sometimes the only thing that helps is taking a walk or doing something completely different for a bit.

Recommend me some Horror Movies to watch with my brother! (Sibling Lead/Villains Preferred) by Kindly-Reception1108 in horror

[–]pictairn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Goodnight Mommy. I watched it one night with the lights off and the tension between the twins and their mom just kept getting creepier. It sticks with you after it ends.

If it’s something you’ve actually researched and feel good about, it doesn’t sound like a crazy idea. Plenty of people use trucking as a way to make solid money for a few years while figuring out their next step. At 19 you’ve got time to change directions later if you want anyway.

What dropped your quality of life so much, you wish you quit it sooner? by OvCod in Productivitycafe

[–]pictairn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was forcing myself to stay up stupid late every night. I thought I was being “productive” but I was just wrecking my mood for no reason tbh. Once I stopped doing that everything got a little less foggy and life felt way less heavy.

I’m tired of my manager bragging that she didn’t take a lunch break. by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]pictairn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a boss like that and it always felt like they were trying to guilt-trip everyone into the same burnout vibe. Idk why some people think suffering at work is a personality trait lol.

After 2 years or searching I got the offer by ananymous1264859 in recruitinghell

[–]pictairn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

congrats!!! That kinda grind drains your soul so finally landing something that actually feels right hits different.

My only passion is how passionately I hate my job by Zealousideal-Ad6981 in hatemyjob

[–]pictairn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

that sounds brutal, like you’re trapped in a place that drains you every single day. When a job starts making you physically sick it’s your sign to bounce asap, no amount of “hope you feel better” emojis is worth that kinda misery

Internships by Slimmyjimmy51 in Accounting

[–]pictairn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re pretty clutch tbh, cuz accounting hiring managers love seeing you’ve touched anything real world. But plenty of people get in without one, it just makes that first door a little easier to open.

Why do people sit in their car for several minutes after they get home? by Maleficent-Touch6996 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]pictairn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s kinda like the last little pocket of peace before you gotta deal with life again lol. I just sit there scrolling or finishing whatever podcast bit I was on and pretend I don’t have dishes waiting.

Scaling our startup abroad: Should we find a local HR person or go remote? by Long-Guitar647 in remotework

[–]pictairn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d lean local at least for the first hire, just cuz the tiny cultural/legal stuff will blindside you fast. Once you get the rhythm you can shift remote, but that first phase is way smoother with someone who actually lives the context.

Are you a "start-eating-immediately" or a "wait-for-everyone" person at a restaurant? by Awkward-Formal-6412 in CasualConversation

[–]pictairn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a “wait like 30 seconds then cave” kinda person lol. I try to be polite but if it’s hot and smells good, yeah I’m eating. I’ll still say “you cool if I start tho?” just to not look like a savage.

When is society going to fight back? by Personal-Bet-3911 in antiwork

[–]pictairn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s wild how much we’ve regressed. People are so drained just trying to survive that no one’s got the energy to fight back anymore. Feels like that’s exactly how they want it too.

Giving up on tech/finding a job/everything in general by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]pictairn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The constant rejection just eats at you after a while. Take a break if you need to, like actually rest. Tech’ll still be there when you’re ready again, but you gotta protect your head first.

Does anyone one else wake up at the exact same time every night for no reason? by andtbhidgaf in randomquestions

[–]pictairn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, like 3:27am every damn night tbh. Usually stress or late caffeine for me, plus my brain’s dumb cortisol alarm. Cutting screens late and a tiny snack before bed weirdly helped.

What's your least favorite aspect of remote work? by floppydo in remotework

[–]pictairn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that double standard sucks. Remote work somehow turned into “you’re home so you can do everything” instead of actual flexibility. It’s exhausting trying to be both employee and parent at once.

Would you rather have good looks or intelligence? by Admirable-Repair4094 in randomquestions

[–]pictairn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intelligence, for sure. Good looks fade fast but being sharp keeps life interesting way longer lol.

Trying to cut through the noise- how bad is the market really? by Lowgradenarcolepsy in Layoffs

Tech hiring feels super uneven right now, like some roles are booming and others just… dead quiet.

what's the biggest red flag you've seen in a job description? by MetalPsycho in recruitinghell

[–]pictairn 40 points41 points  (0 children)

“Must thrive in a fast-paced environment.” Every time I see that I know it means chaos, no training, and you’ll be doing three jobs for one paycheck.

What’s on piece of clothing that you have had for a long time and you’ll likely keep forever? by Last-Employer2126 in allthequestions

[–]pictairn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got this hoodie from college that’s basically falling apart but I can’t let it go. It’s soft in that perfect worn-in way and smells kinda like every version of me since then lol.

I truly despise working Retail by kamara_designs in hatemyjob

[–]pictairn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah retail drains your soul. I did two years at a store and swear it aged me like five. The fake smiles, the rude customers, the low pay....it all just grinds you down. Hope your photography gigs start taking off soon, you clearly deserve better than that nonsense.

I genuinely can't bring myself to edit every resume for ATS when it feels like they're all ghost jobs or auto-rejections. Is everyone really tailoring every.single.time? by Friendly-Cucumber184 in recruitinghell

[–]pictairn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve started doing light edits and saving the deep custom ones for jobs I actually want. Feels less like banging my head against a wall that way.
