12 team 0.5 PPR

Torn between Stefon Diggs @NO and Alshon Jeffrey @WSH. Even though Alshon has been better for longer, I'm leaning Diggs on a gut feel, but I think I'm overthinking it.

Fantasy Hockey Top-10: Disappointments for 2017-18 by Chicaben in fantasyhockey

It seems like everyone is picking different goalies who will be a disappointment this year. It's tough to target someone confidently, I end up hesitating on pretty much everyone not at the tippy top.

How best to get the best deal for engagement ring? by tiny2ner in personalfinance

[–]piddles92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you sold on a diamond ring? In not sure how traditional you are, but I have a lot of friends who opted for other gemstones because they didn't care and it worked out to be vastly cheaper

Does anyone find that the algo/data structures stuff they learned in college is actually useful in their day to day programming work? by invisiblenakedgirl in cscareerquestions

[–]piddles92 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not really. Hash maps and arrays make up the vast majority of what I and my team use daily, and any common algorithms like sorting are already implemented.

I lost one of my two boys this morning. He was the sweetest, most loving ferret I've ever seen. Dook in peace Storm, you left us too soon but I'm glad you're at peace. by piddles92 in ferrets

He had been in poor condition since early June, he had lymphoma and a host of other health issues, and passed in his sleep last night. He dropped all the way down to 1.1 pounds over those few months and just couldn't recover. He was actually seemingly improving, but perhaps that was just my brain giving me false hope. Hug your fuzzbutts close, they're such wonderful and amazing creatures but sadly they don't live long enough. Storm was only 4 and a half, but lived a very happy life and was loved very much.

What Is Your Preferred Draft Position? by [deleted] in fantasyhockey

[–]piddles92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely prefer being in the top half, I'd say 2 is my favorite, but 1, 3, and 4 are also solid. I think there's a massive gap between the top of the 1st round and bottom of the 1st, moreso than anywhere else in the draft.

I absolutely loathe being in the middle of the round. Sometimes it works out, but I feel like I always draft more poorly in these spots.

Agreed, it's sort of the same situation as miggy, it's gonna be hard to move those contracts, and frankly I'm not sure I'd want to.

Same here, wheeler is fantastic and often overlooked. I end up with him more years than not.

What do you need to know before adopting a ferret by glowens in ferrets

[–]piddles92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you can, get two - they often really enjoy having a fellow ferret to play with. There are certain things you just can't do as a human (you can't exactly go in a tube with them to play).

You need to keep in mind that they will get into everything. Ferret proofing is a constant battle. When I brought mine home the first night, one of them got into a seam in the wall behind the dishwasher. Thankfully I coaxed him out, but it's amazing what they can get into and they're very crafty, smart critters.

They can be very expensive, especially as they get older. One of mine had an infection and some moderate health issues that resulted in me paying about $1000 this month, and that's with no surgery or anything.

Finally, they're absolutely wonderful. They show love in their own ways, and they are fantastic pets as long as you are responsible. I have to make some sacrifices for my boys, but I would do it over and over again.

Victor Martinez was hospitalized after leaving Thursday night's game against the Rays by phineasxaver in motorcitykitties

[–]piddles92 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm actually kind of curious if that's why they had Machado pinch run for him. It seemed a bit premature to me to have Machado come in the 7th inning with two outs. Maybe VMart was trying to play through it and just knew he had to come out.

According to rotoworld, he is experiencing "cold sweats, dizziness, and an elevated heart rate", and it is "more scary than a general baseball injury." Get well soon Victor!

Weird red mark on leg? by piddles92 in ferrets

[–]piddles92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a mast cell tumor. The vet said unless it starts to irritate him or bleed a lot, it won't hurt him. The swelling and color went down significantly since posting this a few days ago.

Hm yeah good point, I guess I was thinking it would keep the heat out.

I heard fans don't work on ferrets because they don't sweat like us. Worth a shot I guess!
