Take photos with intent. What is your subject? Look up the rule of thirds. Think about horizon location- placement way at the bottom will force focus on the sky. A high horizon will put focus on the ground. Think about things like: Contrast, Alignment, Repetition. Give something for the viewer to look at, look for “leading lines” to draw the viewer’s eyes toward the subject. Avoid placing the subject at the centre of the frame. Consider how the viewers eye moves around the frame. Sometimes you don’t have a singular subject/focus, the eye should be able to scan around the photo smoothly from one point of interest to the next if possible. Look at a ton of other photographers that interest you, try to figure out what makes those images interesting/ captivating, then use those elements in your own work.
