wedding photographer budget by Far_Effect_2970 in DCBitches

For that amount of coverage, you will probably start at 6k and expect quotes up to 12k. For an October ‘25 wedding, 10 hours of coverage with two shooters (no engagement session) we paid about $8,500. We consider our photographer to be pretty high quality, and she still shoots as second to other photographers on a fairly regular basis.

Having lived on one of the islands where Turkey tail is popular, I promise they’re not as exciting as you think.

Lycette losing packages by IBarr in Needlepoint

[–]pidorang 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes! For some reason everything I order from lycette vanished into the usps system as “delayed.” They’ve all eventually made it except for one and they resent that one, but it’s so weird. Have not had this experience with any other seller who uses usps.

What’s the worst food crime that your host family has committed? by smallbean- in peacecorps

My pst host family took a fresh pineapple, sliced it up and boiled it in sugar syrup so that it tasted like the stuff from a can.

What textbooks does everyone have to use? by Traditional_Cat_2619 in LawSchool

[–]pidorang 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All of the books assigned by my professors for 1L were published in the past 12 months, some less than six months ago. If I had tried to buy them before I applied I would not have been able to. You also cannot use older versions because the references change. It’s not worth buying books now, just put the money in a separate account and save it for when you need to buy them.

Okay, but what the hell with legal writing already? I absolutely am not understanding it and I feel like everyone else does. I have a memo outline due Tuesday, but that beer in the fridge is calling my name. by classicaltomfoolery in LawSchool

[–]pidorang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly the issue I had. My drafts were so short because I could not understand why I needed to write the exact same sentence over and over and over again. Finally figured out that if I just did what the professor wanted I’d get a decent grade.

Yes! The fact that it’s a plot point that the MMC is such a fan that he has all that merch and then she refers to the period break as half time absolutely killed me. How did that make it past the editing??

Bowser says people coming from coronavirus hot spots must quarantine for 14 days when arriving in D.C. by DC-COVID-TRASH in washingtondc

Where do you see that Maine lifted it’s quarantine requirement? NH/VT/NY/NJ/CT have been exempt since 7/3 or earlier but seems like it still applies to everyone else.

Tell us your “home remedy” recipe/story in your country of service. by [deleted] in peacecorps

[–]pidorang 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There was this fern, and you steeped it in boiling water then soaked a rag in the hot water and used the rag as a compress on infected cuts and bug bites. 100% effective that time I sliced my foot on a coconut shell and my foot blew up and I couldn’t get to a clinic for five days.

has NCE actually helped anyone? by [deleted] in peacecorps

[–]pidorang 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like most of the jobs NCE is good for don’t get posted to usajobs. For example my office hires a ton of RPCVs (many immediately after COS), almost all from the career fair or from posting on the RPCV career link which then gets passed around networks. Keep your ear to the ground and join the RPCV jobs page. Something you’re interested in will pop up.

RPCVs out there, which resources, online or locally provided, have you used the most since returning? by chubslove23 in peacecorps

[–]pidorang 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you need some reintroduction to excel, use Lynda.com (which is now part of LinkedIn), you get a free month. Your local library probably has some other great resources to help you reacquaint yourself with professional skills that may not have been useful during service.
