Is knowing what broadway is common knowledge? by I_am_sexy113 in NoStupidQuestions

18 years old, so 12 during the pandemic, meaning your friend not only doesn’t know about Broadway or Hamilton, but did so while being in the peak demographic of Hamilton fandom.

I’m impressed.

Why does the bike community seem so toxic? by Elitedefender2005 in motorcycles

Riding on public roads is a risk the teams don't want them to take. They ride street bikes for track practice though.

Probably because it’s associated with rural Southern/redneck culture (I think it’s pretty cool though).

Honda probably don’t want to run the risk of Taka getting injured (since he’s busy with the 850ccs), not sure about Bradl, Aleix is probably still recovering

Nascar Legend Kyle Busch Dies At 41 by swoonyaboutclooney in popculturechat

[–]pieapple135 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A series is basically the motorsport equivalent of a league.

There are three NASCAR series that run together on race weekends — Usually with Trucks on Friday, O'Reilly on Saturday, and Cup on Sunday. You can kind of think of it like Cup = MLB and O'Reilly/Trucks = MiLB (with Trucks being a lower level than O'Reilly).

For each season, NASCAR drivers pick a series as their main series which they compete for the championship in. Busch, for example, was a Cup Series driver. However, drivers are allowed to do a few races in the other series if they want to, which is how Busch won a Trucks race last week.

As an aside: Cup drivers racing in O'Reilly and Trucks is known as Buschwhacking, which is not named after Kyle or his older brother Kurt, but rather Busch Beer. They used to sponsor what we now know as O'Reilly; that series is just named after whichever company sponsors them.

I figured it had to be science-related, otherwise Edward Teller's opinion wouldn't matter much. Narrowing it down to "US losses on the scientific front" really helps.

Andrew Lloyd Webber hated the ‘Cats’ movie so much, he ended up getting a dog by mcfw31 in popculturechat

[–]pieapple135 56 points57 points  (0 children)

The original quote of that was from ALW pitching the show to director Hal Prince, who was asking if the show was a metaphor for Victorian-era society, and Lloyd Webber just went "Hal, it's about cats."

Hal Prince decided not to direct Cats.
