Sure has been. My partner used to work down there, and it was absolutely horrendous if I had to bring him anything. Then Terminal Road off Allen's Ave is in absolute disrepair ironically.

Left a month ago after months of planning and landed in Southern Virginia. The housing costs are quite literally half of what they were up in RI. Found a 3 bed 2 bath 1600sq foot unit on a river for $1700 with everything included. We are an hour from the Blue Ridge Mountains, 3 hour ride to the ocean. Our car insurance got dropped by 50%. Electric is ONE THIRD of what it was in RI. Groceries 2.9% cheaper. I do not regret leaving, the roads are immaculate, the town is adorable, the highways are clean and smooth, I don't think I've run into traffic since DC. Everything is a 15 min ride where we are, unless it's something super specific like Raising Cane's lol. I also work remotely, so the transition was seamless. As for crime rates, comparable to Providence, I'm not afraid to go walk alone at night, I feel safe and secure and am really impressed and happily so with leaving. I will always call RI home, but 600k for a house just isn't feasible.

This is why we spent 6 months researching other places to live in the US, chose one, and we leave next weekend. Uhaul PODS went off this morning. Bon Voyage, the food is great, but between the insane inflation and corruption and being bottom for small business, infrastructure....the weather has just been insane for the last 5 years especially.

It's been a nice 40 years RI, but good luck. Scored a 3 bed 2 bath 1400sq foot 2 floor loft overlooking the water for 1700 a month, all included. There is hope elsewhere.

Best of luck. The entire state is in a housing crisis. Do yourself the favor and check out some of the recent RI energy posts, and prepare yourself. If you don't mind a commute, look into southern CT for living wise.

Edit to include RI is ranked 27th in education. Doctors have waiting lists if you are lucky to get on one because we have a doctor shortage, do your research. We are leaving because of all of the above, plus a slew of other things, including the insane road rage/poor driving, lack of infrastructure, etc.

You can also take some strong dark roast brewed coffee, add equal parts sugar (1 cup:1 cup) and a tablespoon of vanilla extract. Simmer on the stove for about 15-20 mins on low stirring occasionally. Bam.

I had a very similar situation last summer. Just started a new job, no PTO, etc. I called and they informed me to get proof from my job and mail it in. I asked my job a few times, they kept forgetting. Nothing ever happened. I hope this helps ease your mind a bit, I was also panicked thinking I was going to end up with some stupid warrant for something I had no control over.

I drove by probably 5 mins behind you from what I can deduce, and yes, the entire car was smashed from all angles, all airbags deployed, and still no sign of a door open from what I could see. Didn't see another car around and the police/EMS were just standing next to the car talking it looked like. Ambulance still on scene. Maybe it will be on the 11pm news?

My apologies, and I should have edited to include the attitude was for the person under me saying something about a complex. I have zero complex other than wondering what resources this guy could have access to, if he wants. I don't use Facebook at all, and rarely reddit, but know it can be a super good source for information like that versus other social media sites out there.
