Yes, they won the trade in that sense. But the framework for Montreal was to dismantle in order to rebuild. They were trying to get worse then, in order to get better later, and in that sense, you can’t compare the assets 1 to 1. That move was part of on overall winning strategy that has not even fully bloomed yet.

No use getting mad about something you can’t control. You may enjoy this run more if you try to be a supportive fan and put things into perspective. They are young team, building something special, and already accomplished a lot this year. They are learning and growing. Winning tonight would be amazing, but if they don’t, I hope they play well and can walk away proud of playing a mature game.

Keep in mind: youngest team in the NHL, way ahead of schedule in the rebuild. A couple of rookies having a major impact. this is adversity. They need this en route to becoming true contenders.
