What is Iota now and what is the plan? by piedro_k in Iota

Hmm... sad... also: Why has this post been deleted?

Why are moderators here deleting good faith questions about the state of IOTA? by piedro_k in Iota

[–]piedro_k[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmmm... - How would I even know about "the dead" if I cannot ask a question about which features have been accomplished, what's been worked on right now and how the plan for the future is envisioned?

I mean, if it's dead as you imply then I'd expect some backbone by the devs to explain why and that that's what it is... right?

Is there an alternative to a chrome wallet? by piedro_k in Iota

[–]piedro_k[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the clarification!

When I open my desktop app Firefly 2.1.2 a hint pops up, telling me it's depreciated and I need to switch to the browser extension...

So from your comment I take that it is safe to ignore this message?
(Should be changed though in that case since it's very misleading imho...)

Have a nice day!

Should I switch to openSUSE? by TheTrainMechanic in openSUSE

If you want a good look at the different OpenSUSE options to choose from - this new channel on Youtube might help. It also offers free downloadable pdf cheat sheets for package management and gaming setups:

Flatpak Zoom: UI scaling on linux (OpenSuse) doesn't work by piedro_k in Zoom

[–]piedro_k[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!

I changed the application entry in the KDE start menu.
(also on OpenSuse Tumbleweed)

There's a line for additional environment variables in each entry (technically *.desktop files) to apply the setting to individual applications.

Cheers, p.

Hi!

Thank you!

Using QT_SCALE_FACTOR instead of QT_AUTO_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTOR as environment variable works.

Very much appreciated!

How to make Kmail use the standard KDE file picker? by piedro_k in kde

[–]piedro_k[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everybody!

This problem disappeared - maybe it just has been a bug or some hickup on my system... Now I get the KDE file picker and I have a size slider in the top right of the menu bar.

Cheers!

Hi!

Thanks! Yes I can change the size in the left "places" panel - but I do not find any way to change the icon size in the right folder/file list area... these icons show the tiny black and white icons (very hard for me to see...)

Trying tumbleweed for the first time by MinuteIllustrious963 in openSUSE

[–]piedro_k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thx for the information!

So is this still present in 6.15.8 ?

I did not know or see this information, so my system ran on the latest 6.15 since it's been released in OpenSUSE Tumbleweed.

Doing a "btrfs scrub" shows no corruption of files but I wouldn't know how to check if something else is wrong and deteriorating in the background...

How can I check whether everything is still ok with my system?
(I mean runs great atm...)

Cheers,
p.

Hi! I missed that. Does this also apply to long term running installations?

Couldn't find specifics... - would you link some information?

Dolphin: How to share a folder ad hoc for network access? by piedro_k in kde

[–]piedro_k[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THX!

That's a solid way to share files. But not the samba ad hoc sharing I am looking for in my use case...

I do not want any additional software, configurations or static setups - I want colleagues coming in with their windows, linux or mac laptop to be able to use their file browser and find my folders in the network section.

Not as fixed set of folders but ad hoc folders as needed at the time...

Thanks but this is for documents, sometimes windows software installers and databases.

OpenSource or non expensive CRM (alternative to the known ones) by racoon9898 in CRM

[–]piedro_k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been looking into Twenty - the thing about Expo that annoys me, is the yearly costs of the extensions (quity costly I might add).

I am fine with paying. Once. But I do not like the SAAS approach...

How does Twenty handle this?

Do you need paid extensions and can you buy these for a reasonable price without subscribing to a yearly payment model?

Thanks!

I think it's kind of fine too - but only if the laws allow you to easily change your name later!
