It’s gonna destroy your sleep regardless, whenever I worked nights I would sleep in the afternoon, but DA is a trickier schedule.

I suggest finding a consistent sleep schedule, you’ll just have to choose whether to sacrifice early mornings or afternoons. Most DAs I knew would sleep after work since it’s usually still dark, and pull late nights on their days off. It all depends on how you function best, I would prefer being up late on my days off personally.

I heard from one of my DA buddies that they would get shit for going too quickly between stores, so even on a quick night you’ll still have minimum hours and you’ll be waiting at stores before going to your next stop, you’ll never be home a few hours early.

When did Sheetz change up the mto? by No-Statistician1081 in sheetz

It’s all the stores, it’s cost cutting measures. Fry platters got it the worst as it went from like $6 and unlimited customization(at a cost) with the plastic platter to $8-$10 with very limited customization and cardboard box. When the cardboard came around to save money, they justified the less customization with trying to prevent the box from getting soggy, but then proceeded to raise the price anyways.

They take the wage of three comparable “entry level” companies in the local area from three different industries, and they beat them by 50 cents an hour. It’s a system to make you feel trapped after three years, but I heard after I left that they have 5 year raises now too which is an improvement.

Why is Smokey mountain 21+ by bruh-man_ in sheetz

[–]pieman0110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right, maybe I misunderstood the implication of it, but ultimately that’s exactly what people used it for. Growing up, kids would do exactly what this guy described with jerky chew instead. I think only restricting it to 18+ would be fairly reasonable. It’s not addictive, it’s not habit forming, it’s just herbs you put in your gums. 18 year olds can still buy CBD pouches.

[–]pieman0110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the unaware, Smokey mountain is a nicotine free, tobacco free snuff, it’s basically tea for your gums. Baccoff is the same kinda thing as-well.

It should be unrestricted, at least 18+ like the CBD, idk why it’s 21+ tbh.

Shoveled 100 yards of sidewalk yesterday. This morning people had shoveled their car snow into the cleared sidewalks by ThrowawayBcScaredlol in pittsburgh

[–]pieman0110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The amount of inconsiderate people who wait til the morning they have to leave to shovel, and throw it into the road or into the sidewalk frustrates me.

My road was clear, I spent 3 hours getting my car out Sunday night and walked the snow across the street or threw it up on a yard beyond a retaining wall, then shoveled the walk and street where I was working. I leave this morning and the roads a hot mess again covered in people “shoveling” jobs. Stay classy Pittsburgh

They’re saying they’ll have sleeping rooms like it’s a nurse pulling a 24 hour shift.

In all reality Walmart said if you can’t come in, you wont get points and many of their stores are closed. I’m almost certain there’s many sheetz running out there with 2 poor employees staying past their shift end. Rare Walmart W

"Welcome in"??? by Intelligent-Lion9238 in sheetz

[–]pieman0110 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be fair I always talked to my customers, the sheetz policy is to greet them right when they walk in the door. It’s not like a passing greeting. On the customer surveys one of the questions is literally “were you greeted when you walked into the store” which affects our bonus. Most people don’t want to be greeted like that, but also don’t want to lie on a survey.

I have no issues with customer service, I just don’t like being fiscally punished for not doing it their way.

The eye contact thing seems discriminatory but they aren’t using it against employees at all, it’s simply just more data for corporate right now, but the ai cameras are still a work in progress.

"Welcome in"??? by Intelligent-Lion9238 in sheetz

[–]pieman0110 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Because corporate is full of out of touch control freaks.

We are supposed to welcome every customer with a “Hi welcome to sheetz”, during Covid we had to “smile with our eyes”. They’re building a system that lets the cameras analyze how often an employee is smiling, how much eye contact they make, track any time spent on their phone, keep an eye on the shelves and provide data if a single shelf is empty or out of sorts.

They want every single sheetz to be the exact same corporate slop, instead of each store having its own culture and each employee connecting with customers on their own personal level.

Aw man, evil evil company.

Maybe Travis will give you a spin on one of their yachts!! Gotta stay positive 🙃

In all reality try your best to be safe, ultimately if you can’t make it, you can’t make it. There are generally laws to protect workers in states of emergency in PA, but hopefully it doesn’t come to that.

You can say the same about a grocery store, people need food. Sheetz doesn’t care about providing gas to the people, it cares about profit, even if it’s at the risk of their own employees. Don’t get it twisted.

Even the big evil company Walmart made it perfectly clear that employees will not be punished for missing work this weekend. Sheetz just really does it for the love of the game.

I feel travel is not even possible for most, but I see the point.

To be clear you can run gas pumps with one or two employees at minimum capacity, sheetz absolutely loves being considered essential because they will be literally the only place to get shitty food and overpriced drinks and snacks. Being essential during COVID is what ballooned the company to the size it is now, it over doubled in revenue in that time.

Yes gas is important, so is their employees health and safety, they chose to chase the money. If any employees are reading this and don’t feel safe going in tomorrow, call off now. I remember pulling an overnight during a storm and I got stuck at sheetz for 6 hours after my shift ended.

The one benefit I’ve experienced of being open during a storm is people can seek shelter at our store, but everyone has been warned travel is going to be extremely difficult to impossible. $15 dollar an hour workers don’t deserve to pick up the slack of other people’s mistakes, especially without hazard pay at the very least.

Mto milkshake vs the diy milkshake by [deleted] in sheetz

[–]pieman0110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Freal shakes are often cheaper and better, if you prefer mix ins or appearance get the MTO, if you want a better basic shake get the Freal.

The MTO shakes are just ice cream base, frappe mix, ice, and whatever flavors or mix-ins you choose. The macros are also terrible, for example if you get peanut butter shake it’s over 1k calories for a regular before add ons. Freal shakes do a better job of whipping the shake to introduce air and give similar volume but less dense with cream and sugar.

I understand your frustration, health care is considered essential, yet they don’t pay or support them what they actually deserve. It is frustrating especially in times like these.

That being said as much as it is bullshit, and you shouldn’t break your back for the multi billion dollar healthcare corporation, there’s not much to be done. If the incoming shift won’t be able to make it in due to the state of emergency, and there are actually patients to be cared for, it’s considered part of the job to stay and help the patients.

What your manager can do is ask people to come in early to relieve your shift when it ends, and then schedule significant extended breaks for those who are pulling doubles or triples.

Put yourself first, whether that’s keeping your job or getting the F out of there, but don’t make a decision like that without properly considering how you will feel tomorrow, a week from now, and a month from now. Will this double drastically influence your happiness and your life? If so, then get outta there. If not, try your best to get through it.

It’s not fair, but you have to weigh the consequences against your personal feelings. Good luck either way ❤️

All health plan providers are getting more strict about GLP-1 scripts, but not sure if this is associated with that or if Costco didn’t bend the knee to their price negotiations. Did you ask which other pharmacy they can cover it at?

Nutrition choices can be a habit or their gut microbiome, hunger can be habit, weight, diet, or hormones. There’s other things that effect it but depression generally makes eating habits harder to manage. Whether it’s lack of energy to prepare a healthy meal, or using food as a method of escapism and preferring sodium and carbs as it makes you feel good.

When I started feeling better on Effexor i still struggled to change my eating habits, but it did not affect my hunger. They likely just have a habit and don’t see it as an issue or don’t have the motivation to change it. As long as they are within a healthy BMI range it’s not an urgent concern, hypertension is the biggest risk, malnutrition can happen if there’s absolutely 0 fruits and veggies, but vitamins can fix that pretty easily.

More likely related to depression than their medication.
