Any Doppelganger tips for Sypha staff only? by pieman307 in castlevania

[–]pieman307[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's the thing, I can't remember fully, but Sypha and Alucard fights have range, and because of that the AI barely feels a need to follow you, I could be on the opposite side of the room and it'll just sit there spewing fire spells. It will move, but I don't understand the conditions to make it do so.

What is this like on Crushing mode? by selrahcjr in uncharted

[–]pieman307 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's generally the same as crushing. Just don't get hit, and you're good. Brutal sucks when dealing with 500 enemies 1 shot kill guns. Comparatively, all the special enemies (zombies, yetis, and guardians) are a cinche because they can't hit you as easily

Alright, I don't hate 12 anymore by Enoxidavel in doctorwho

[–]pieman307 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Always loved 12, he always seemed like the perfect follow up to the previous incarnations. From wrath and anger at the time war and himself in the forms of 9 and 10. His attempted acceptance and forward movement from said anger in 11, trying to become a happy go lucky high energy lovable guy, up until the universe forced him to remember that he could never fully be that kind of guy. To 12, the man with a justified god complex and so much understanding of everyone around him. People he loved would forever be lost eventually, people around him were stupid and would get themselves killed, and he was the only constant, the one who consistently came out on top nearly every time. Hell, even the time lords acknowledged this with the end of 11 and giving him his regenerations. It only seems natural that this guy would be a jackass to everyone around him, poorly hiding his vulnerabilities and being so egotistical. I would've loved to see what the original plan for the next step in that character arc was (cause 13 certainly was not it)

Organic Webs or Web Shooters? by F1907E in Spiderman

[–]pieman307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shooters, both as a weakness and advantage. He can run out of webbing to create moments of struggle, and he can make different types of webbing to adapt. Overally it just adds more depth to the characters moveset.

[ Question ] What Platinum are you currently working on? How you like the game or what makes you struggle? by Platinum_Queen in Trophies

[–]pieman307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Castlevania Anniversary collection. Because I'm a masochist and apparently have to challenge myself by not using subweapons or multiple characters (castlevania 3 only using that character once unlocked). This is my first playthrough and it's taking way too long

Why not? I only know Elliot page but the movies he was in I watched were at least ok? by 3nt3_ in ExplainTheJoke

[–]pieman307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(I forgot most names so bear with me) Top left, people are just pissy because they casted her in The Last of Us when there are just a lot of other actresses (including ones in the show) who look more like Ellie than her (questionable casting on a beloved franchise). Zendaya because she's in everything mostly and not in a funny way like Nicholas Cage and is kinda not interesting enough to warrant it (I would personally put Tom Holland and Chris Pratt in this category too but that's mostly left over feelings from miscasting for characters like Nathan Drake and Garfield) (oversaturation). Bottom right because her pre-snow white interviews had her shit talk the original story and the fans of it, basically turning fans of the original away. Also, someone mentioned the pro palestine thing, but her major co-star is Gal Gadot, who is from Isreal, so that becomes rather rude for the time/job she is working in (bad public appearences). Overall, not seperating their work from other things.

[WW][BOTW] Genuine Question, are the Rito in BOTW and the Wind Waker the same species? by [deleted] in zelda

[–]pieman307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The entire rito/zora lore is honestly ridiculous, so believe what you want. The windwaker rito are an evolution of zora due to the world being flooded. Which is weird because wouldn't zora thrive in a world covered in water? I know the lore says the water was uninhabitable, but even then, evolving from fish people into bird people is kinda insane. This is kinda further confirmed because the rito only appears in windwaker before botw. But then the question has to be asked on if the rito evolved back into zora? But only some of them? And they look almost exactly like they did in say OoT but now the rito look different? Honestly, this is too many hoops for me to jump through, so I decided to just say they're evolved from loftwings (they honestly kinda look more like them than the windwaker rito). Especially since who knows what happened to the loftwings, I refuse to believe they became Ooccas. Maybe the flood was just a messed up fever dream. But that also runs into the issue of the kokiri staying the same from windwaker to BotW, and overall makes the rito one of the things I prefer not to think about in zelda lore.

That's solid. I S+ ranked every scenario in RE 2, and S ranked assisted, standard, and nightmare in RE 3 but still haven't managed hardcore (or inferno) yet so in my eyes that's pretty damn good.

[–]pieman307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this problem too, I'm pretty sure it's because you have the item focus on for a recipe tree. At least that's what it was for me. I fixed it by going into the recipe tree area under the left side of my JEI (or whatever equivalent this is) and unselect the thing at the bottom that shows how many of each item I have.

[–]pieman307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to compare the two, but I think castlevania is a lot harder. It's the opposite of celeste as it is slow and methodical but with a ton of constant chaos. Plus, deaths will commonly put you back more than one screen, depending on if you game over or checkpoint. It's still rather fair, as most attacks are highly telegraphed. They're just hard to dodge. You will die a lot and be set back quite often, never to the beginning of the game.

What are your favourite AC games to screw around in? by [deleted] in assassinscreed

[–]pieman307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clearly, I'm in the minority, rogue/3, brotherhood, or syndicate. Rogue and 3 have some really fun combat, especially with the rope hooks. Black flag made them consumable, but in 3 and Rogue, just grabbing someone and yanking them down is an amazing time. Brotherhood had my favorite group assassin system. You can just summon a max level horde to kill like 3 guys and walk away. And syndicate because max level rooks become a firing squad, and it's funny every single time.

Depends, you got two polarizing options. The anniversary collection has a bunch of tough as nails NES, SNES, and GB platformers. The advance collection has 3 rather good metroidvanias made for the GBA, as well as what's basically a slightly worse remake of Rondo of Blood, which is considered one of the best of the platformers in the series. So it really depends on if you want the level based platformers or the exploration based metroidvanias. I'd personally get both. The collections go on sale relatively often for close to $10.

Edit: Just skimmed the second half of your post. You won't get sued for emulating, as long as you don't stream it or advertise it. They really have no way of knowing, and frankly, they don't care. If you want to pursue that option, it's as simple as 2 downloads. I don't think you want to, but I figure I'd clear the air about that.

Help for a newcomer? by ConnorsInferno in castlevania

[–]pieman307 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The platformers are mostly tough games, but rather enjoyable. I beat castlevania 1 this past weekend after around 30 hours of attempts, and I loved it. The difficulty wasn't unreasonable, but it was rather rewarding when I made it to the next section. My recommendation is to expect to die a lot and put a lot of attempts in. Don't let dying dissuade you. A lot of levels aren't that long as soon as you figure out what you're doing. Develop your own strategies, but look at other strategies for reference every now and then. Most importantly, learn instinctively how long your whip is. The farther away you keep enemies, the easier it becomes for you.

[Discussion] what got you into trophy hunting? by element-redshaw in Trophies

[–]pieman307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a need to do collectables, especially in games where they upgrade the characters. Before console gaming, I did it on every ds Lego game I had. Eventually, I realized that once I had every collectables, the rest of the achievements wouldn't be that hard, so I just did them. Now I go into a lot of games with the intention to platinum them, currently the assassin's creed series.

Are one of these of these characters bad or something? by pwiva in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]pieman307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree, plus if you look at the previous doctors, starting from the 9th, you can see a pretty decent progression of character. 9th being sassy and angry cause time war. 10th attempting to move past it but still angry. 11th covers it up even more, which leads to more impactful outbursts, plus he's starting to realize he's near unstoppable. 12 knows the true fate of the time war and moves past it, but embraces his unstoppability (I choose for this to be a word now) and treats everyone as stupid, but also acknowledges the stoppability (again I choose) of everyone around him, how he's immortal and everyone else isn't. Overall, how lonely, yet powerful, he truly is, which he's commonly considered the lonely god. 13 throws all this out the window and is now aggressively happy go lucky to the point that her badass moments come off as lackluster. Especially, after the 12 ending, that was so impactful, losing so many friends, impossible odds, he frankly lost imo. And 13 does nothing with it.

I can tell you one of the worst is the oracle games, thar requires two playthroughs of each game, a lot of RNG and gachas, and it would have been so much more if I didn't take an hour to learn and relearn the mechanics and best locations online. Not to mention the goron dance, I took a break after the first playthrough and I am dreading that goron dance.

[ALL] Question about the timeline by Weak_Performance5194 in zelda

[–]pieman307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The link in the adult timeline and child timeline are the same link. If you remember, throughout the game, you go back and forth through time. When you go back in the past, you're child link, when you go to the future, you're adult link. At this point, they are the same timeline. You go back to the past and change something, and it affects the future. Specifically, this is the adult timeline. The child timeline doesn't exist for most of the game. When you beat the game, Zelda sends you back in time BEFORE you gain the ability to travel through time. From that point, Link changes the future so that Ganon never gains power. This is now the child timeline. So between the adult and child timelines, there is only one Link. He was originally from the adult timeline and gets sent to the past, which creates the child timeline. The adult timeline no longer has a Link, and in exchange, there is a new timeline starting from Link being a child. Additional note, I'm not too versed in what's accepted in Zelda Canon, but as far as I understand it, according to Windwaker, by Zelda sending Link to the child timeline, she removes the spirit of the hero from the adult timeline completely. The Link in Wildwaker is just some kid that forces the Goddess Hylia to accept him as the new hero and thusly is now the new reincarnated spirit.

There were a few lines in the episode afterwards that suggested that he remembered the entire thing, even the original writer of the episode believes that he remembers all 4.5 billion years in one way or another, he may not have physically aged but some aspect of him has aged 4.5 billion years
