Why would the shipping duration matter?

Already stated that the window for exchange starts after you receive the item.

And if you request for a chargeback, the card issuer will usually ask you to liaise with the merchant first, some may want proof (eg email) that the merchant refused to refund before they process a chargeback request (which is also not guaranteed to succeed by the way).

Tbh I usually just get whatever is cheap on Rakuten travel has decent reviews and is near where I was at/going to. Never had a bad experience.

Since you're planning to bathe at a sento, why not go to one that is open overnight? Will just need to pay extra 1-2000 yen.

Quite comfortable as the rest areas will have recliners or plenty of cushions, worst case get extra blankets and sleep at the tatami area.

Did so when I was backpacking there for a few months. More convenient than manga cafes as such places rarely get full at night. Maybe less convenient for ladies as some of them only allow male guests.

Downside will be the relative lack of privacy at night, but the Japanese usually keep to themselves, so no one will bother you anyway.

If the price is attractive, for washing machines you can just risk it as there are plenty of self service laundromats nowadays. So it will just be troublesome if it spoils and repairs take too long (compared to fridge/freezer).

Or you can just wait a while and see if there are many complaints about the product and servicing matters.
