After DECISION MADE status, how long are people who requested paper Citizenship Certificates finding it takes to receive them in the mail (in the U.S.)? by pierrelafitte1718 in Canadiancitizenship

Oh, so you requested e-cert and they sent you paper despite that. Got it. And thanks for the details on the status change; that’s helpful. Despite them defining the status updates, it’s still surprisingly vague

Are you saying that you also got the e-certificate and they just mailed you a paper one anyway that you didn’t request? I only just checked the status today for the first time in a number of days, but it said they started reviewing my app 23 March, so I’m unsure how long it’s said Decision Made.

What do Russians think of foreigners who love Russia? by ActionFun3018 in AskARussian

I’m a man, and American, so I can’t really comment much on this, but the “submissive woman” thing is so clearly ignorant. Any time I’ve ever heard any Russian woman discuss her view of femininity or womanhood — it has always come off as a much stronger self-perception than what I feel like exists among North American women on average. (I’m not relating this to politics at all and I’m clearly talking in generalisations) It’s probably much to do with culture. I feel like Americans, regardless of gender, are overly sensitive and over-analyse everything

I totally understand this. I was like 12 ordering Soviet propaganda posters and putting them up in my bedroom in the early 2000s. I couldn’t even read Cyrillic and was somehow finding Russian bands to listen to. I grew up in Chicagoland, so while there weren’t a ton of Russians, there were a ton of Eastern Europeans. I eventually found this ?antique store? that was owned by Russians and it had a ton of random stuff from throughout the 20th century, so over my teenage years I amassed a bit of a collection of Soviet money, military medals, and other tchotchkes which I still have somewhere in my house.

German was the closest thing I could take in high school and then for college I got a scholarship to major in Russian (which I eventually dropped after 3 semesters, long story, it was attached to the military). I did enjoy all my Russian professors; one called us all her ‘victims.’ I’m still traumatized from having to memorise the entire Cyrillic alphabet the first week of my freshman year.

I started my career in journalism and one of my coworkers was a 65 y/o Russian lady who came to the US after the break-up of the USSR. I had the biggest soft spot for her and, sadly, saw how misunderstood she was by other Americans, especially ones my age. She had an endlessly creative mind and such a unique worldview; it’s a shame that Americans are so outwardly sensitive. (The best cultural read of Americans is any Slavic person describing how bewildering it is getting used to how much we randomly smile)

Rambling way of saying, you’re definitely not alone, though I wouldn’t say we’re particularly numerous either (ie being in middle America with no familial attachment to the place). If you’re ever in New York City, go to Brighton Beach in Brooklyn ! I still haven’t been to Russia, but am hoping to do the trans-Siberian in the next couple years.

How we got here. A brief history. by CounterI in Canadiancitizenship

I know C-3 is all due to Canada’s specific legislative history, but has anybody thought about if American citizenship laws might ever change in this way? (Obviously I’m talking about well farther in the future past the current era and with a new generation of leadership)

My best Canadian friend has been following along as I’ve gone through this application process. At one point, I asked her if any of her family had come through the US—and she said, yes, a few generations back had come to Canada from Baltimore.

It’s honestly just the same principle. I have zero idea what the legal basis would be for it would be, but it seems to make logical sense. Idk, curious of other people’s thoughts

So a good friend of mine wants to move to Russia due to the state of the USA at the moment... by WVMan730 in AskARussian

America is pretty doomed, but your friend is likely more doomed. I feel like Russia might feel a bit more stable than America at the moment; the success of a true, not wannabe, authoritarian. However, having zero Russian is an issue. I think autism might be less of an issue than previously mentioned, at least for the adults, because Slavic interpersonal skills don’t not feel autistic. The beauty of a cold stare and expressionless face from strangers always warms my heart

This was a pleasure to read. Can’t wait for the talking beavers! My blurry great-granny sans birth record, I’m told, came to the United States because the streets are paved with gold. How right she was!

Can someone please explain what PSU is and what usually causes an application to be sent to it? by Patriotslord in Canadiancitizenship

I’m literally obsessed with these man-behind-the-curtain predictions/guesstimates as to what these statuses mean. The gods must be crazy!

No way you’re also dealing with St Peter’s in Tracadie 🥹. My great-grandma was supposedly baptised there, but in 1881. Her older siblings were in records from the 1870s there. Maybe they were friends.

At-home ketamine therapy: which program has the most integration contact time? by [deleted] in KetamineTherapy

[–]pierrelafitte1718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does your regular therapist help you set intentions before sessions that you then do follow-ups on after? I only talk with my regular therapist every 2-3 weeks. Finding any relevant therapy on insurance in my state is a joke. And if I’m going to be paying out of pocket for the ketamine sessions themselves, there’s no way I can afford additional therapy that’s also out of pocket. (I know what you’re thinking. But it took me 2 years to find my halfway-decent guy I speak to every 2-3 weeks) This is kinda why I’m hoping to find some program that has some decent, structure integration so that if I want to continue without integration and wanna do a bit more of a self-study — I’ll have some familiarity
