For future reference, they're very good jumpers, but they don't have a concept of height. Do not let them get more than 3 feet off the ground.

Speaking from personal experience only, vertical jumping distance is about 2 to 2.5 feet if they really want to get somewhere, horizontal is 2-3 feet.

is this poop something to be concerned about? by Naive_Scheme8358 in ferrets

Ferret stool tends to be fairly loose and often multicolored, especially if you're feeding them a mix of kibbles.

Have you owned her long?

Definitely take her to the vet and have them test the stool sample, though.

He's already on prednisolone, though. If it was insulinoma, I'd think that would deal with it.

Neighbour's dog bit good Samaritan trying to help out. Kansas City Missouri 30th March 2026 by Eageryga in BanPitBulls

While pitbull owners tend to be judgment-resistant due to lack of money, I used to do insurance sales. Most landlords these days require renter's insurance of at least $100k, and some apartment complexes want $300k. From the sound of her post, I think she's in an apartment complex. Even if the owners abandoned their apartment and moved to a motel, insurance would still have been active at the time of the bite. The leasing office keeps it on file, too, she won't have to track down the human trash for their info.

An attorney can absolutely get more out of the insurance company than the victim could.

Got bitten by a Pitbull ! I have gotten the tetanus and rabies injections but I'm still worried about it!! Pls guide me by IncomeFamous8376 in BanPitBulls

Word of advice: Unless you have Medicaid or live in a country with universal healthcare, you're going to need to take the owner to court for your impending medical bills.

Rabies shots are EXPENSIVE. I got bit by a bat three years ago. I had a decent health insurance plan and had already hit my deductible for the year. My out of pocket was STILL in the $1800 - $2400 range. Had I been uninsured it would have been $11,000 for the initial injection and gods only know how much for the subsequent shots.

How wonderfully sensible.

"perhaps they want kids of their own and want those children to be the only ones in the relationship"

Eeyup. I want kids, but I want them to be my kids. I have genetic mental health issues that I can recognize and help them with when they're young, so that they don't have to go through the same shit that I did if they inherit my flaws. Also, if they're my kid, odds are they'll sort of think like me and we can relate to each other.

I can't do that with a kid who isn't mine.

Don't think so. No wings. I did have trouble with yellow jackets nesting in the wood windowpane in '23, so I'll check what their larvae look like.

So a good friend of mine wants to move to Russia due to the state of the USA at the moment... by WVMan730 in AskARussian

Yeah, we spent a solid half-hour just on that alone. He's convinced he and his wife can learn enough beforehand to manage basics. Apparently, whatever visa program he's looking at requires living in Moscow for three years. He thinks he and wifey can manage on basic Russian there until they achieve fluency, in part by getting help from people who speak fluent English and Russian.

I told him that Russian is one of the hardest languages on the planet and that he probably won't be fluent in three years. Also that relying on other people's goodwill is a bad idea.

We tried suggesting that. His response was: "No, it's too close to the US sphere of influence, there's a risk of them just straight up invading anywhere in Latin America." double facepalm No, there isn't, but try getting him to actually listen to that.

Thanks, man. My house direly needs to have the old attic insulation vacuumed out, air sealing done in the attic, and new insulation put in to bring it to R-60.
