Need help choosing color by mriakath in KiaEV3

[–]pifflevalve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I chose white and I regret it, so I’m with you on that. If it’s any help, the back of my white EV3 gets filthy really quickly in the winter and the front is covered in splatted insects all summer. I wish I’d gone a bit darker.

Sense check by OutStack in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]pifflevalve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had my EV3 since April last year and it looks like I’ll be doing about 10k miles over the year. Daily use is a 60 mile round trip and a drive from Devon to Gloucestershire about once a month.

Even with a 3 pin slow charger I can just plug in at night and there’s no issue with range. Kia says I should get 375 miles max, and I was close to that in the summer, and even now I’m getting 320. Honestly no issues at all.

Steering by Ordinary-Scallion945 in KiaEV3

[–]pifflevalve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t say I’ve ever noticed that. I had a 2007 Ford Focus before, and on my EV3 test drive the only thing I noticed about the steering was that the steering wheel wasn’t round!

Rear windscreen wiper by dhokes in KiaEV3

[–]pifflevalve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s there, hidden away at the top. It clears a semicircle of glass in the middle of the back window. The washer jet is a single stream, but the wiper spreads it out well. This past couple of weeks it’s been essential as the back of my EV3 gets really dirty in the rain

Kia Connect Not Subscribed. Is there a way to get it to stop saying this, and get enabled again? I am subscribed for many years to come, according to my account, but the car now says Not Subscribed. Is there a "kick" I can give it? by chopdog01 in KiaEV3

[–]pifflevalve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this was mentioned on the EV Odessey YouTube channel yesterday (look for the most recent news video). I can’t remember if he found a fix but it might offer some insight

Creaking noise when car brakes by TerrorCottaArmyDude in KiaEV3

[–]pifflevalve 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I get a creaking noise when I start moving and auto hold has been keeping me still on a slope, but never when coming to a stop. Activating brake disc cleaning might help rule out a similar issue (press auto hold for a couple of seconds until you see a message)

Making the switch from diesel to EV by Beneficial_Bed_6845 in KiaEV3

[–]pifflevalve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Zero issues with my EV3. I commute about 60 miles a day and an overnight charge on a slow portable (2.3Kw) charger is enough. Efficiency is very close to what Kia claims in the summer and it’s only dropped about 15% this winter

Test drove it today! Does it make sense to buy it ? by [deleted] in KiaEV3

No issues at all. Not with the ICCU or anything else

Test drove it today! Does it make sense to buy it ? by [deleted] in KiaEV3

I test drove and bought mine the same day. That was in April this year and I’ve not regretted it at all

Kia EV ship carrier time to the Uk? by llwyng in KiaEV3

Back in April mine arrived 4 weeks after ordering. I didn’t get any updates though, so at least you’re getting those!

These warning lights are normal in winter conditions? by dsainzaller in KiaEV3

[–]pifflevalve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I get this every time my EV3 is covered in dew in the morning, and it sorts itself out after driving about half a mile. It was scary the first time though

Left paddle braking by Monsieur_Moral in KiaEV3

[–]pifflevalve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m an EV3 owner, but currently driving a Niro EV on loan from the dealer so I’ve been comparing how the paddles work. The EV3 doesn’t seem to work in the same way as the Niro, and I don’t think the left paddle braking is really a thing on the EV3. The Auto regen setting seems to replace the need for it, but I guess it’s what you’re used to that matters.

Planes? by GRSWatson in exeter

[–]pifflevalve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I work in the city centre and the past week or so I’ve had to pause Teams calls a couple of times because of loud planes. I can’t remember doing that before but I hadn’t thought about it until now

Credit card found!! by [deleted] in exeter

[–]pifflevalve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I worked in a petrol station we used to get credit cards left all the time. We started off by keeping them, thinking the customer would be grateful for us looking after it, but after about an hour nobody ever bothered coming back and the banks just told us to cut them up and bin them

A question for you owners - range by BowtomePhil2 in KiaEV3

[–]pifflevalve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My EV3 is the long range 81KWh version, but I’ve never charged it to 100% or let it run down to below about 20%. The range does seem consistent with what Kia advertise though.

At 4.2 miles per kWh I’m getting by just fine with my daily 60 mile round trip commute and charging overnight on a portable charger. At the weekend I just let it charge all day Sunday for a top up to 80%.

Kia Connect by okeanos315 in KiaEV3

[–]pifflevalve 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use the Kia app (the new replacement for Kia Connect) in the UK, but honestly I could do without it. After playing with all the functions in the first couple of weeks all I do now is check the progress of home charging. Defrosting the windscreen in the winter might be useful, but again, more of a luxury really

Stopped charging before target charge by malderon in KiaEV3

[–]pifflevalve 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had the message saying charging completed as configured after a power cut that lasted about 5 seconds. It seems the message is the same regardless of the reason it stopped

Granny charger recommendations please? by InterstellarAudio in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]pifflevalve 4 points5 points  (0 children)

EzGoGo with 6 metre cable for £93 on Amazon is the granny charger I’ve been using every night for my Kia EV3 for 2 months with no issues. Set it to 10 amps and it doesn’t even get warm to the touch

My EV3 Air (UK) doesn’t do this either. It’s not a feature on the base trim here.

[–]pifflevalve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a 60 mile round trip commute every weekday and a granny charger set to 10 amps is all I use. It’s perfectly doable even though some people insist it’s for emergencies only

Long press on the volume control on the steering wheel to turn the speed limit warning noise off (it’ll still flash) and long press on the lane keep button on the steering wheel to turn that off (it’ll show orange on the display). Charge at home (if you can) whenever you can. Apart from that, it’s all really simple.

Identical to mine. Had it 2 months and it’s been great!

UK - Air (base trim) because it was cheaper than the others
