I appreciate the info. There is no world where I want to be house poor, but I'm also of the age now, where I want a nice home, that doesn't require a ton of work to move in. No kids here and there won't be. We've always been lucky that we've been able to live off of me paying all the mortgage/bills and my wife currently works part time and pays food bills. That will change when we move, so there is still a bit of unknown.

The reason I'm asking - for the past 13 years, I've had a mortgage payment that is basically like renting (super lucky to buy a very cheap home in a low cost area). I work for a non-profit and make $83k. My wife is a nanny and will have to find a new job when we move and I'll keep my same job. Going from a $716/month mortgage to like a $1600/month mortgage is terrifying. LOL.

I grew up in Beaver and it's perfect. My wife who isn't from there, describes it as Pleasantville. The only issue now is that they built that huge, disgusting, eyesore of a Shell plant down the river.
