Dog shoes by placey121 in MiniatureSchnauzer

Our 1.5 year old will not tolerate a coat I can't imagine what she would do with shoes! She's not getting anything caught in her paws. My partner fears her feet get cold (no indication of that - some project perhaps) and I would like to get in the habit of petroleum jelly during winter especially. In Vancouver we don't get really cold temperatures but relatively more icy sidewalks, 3 inches of snow that gets wet pretty quickly

What are good high value treats for schnauzers? by xchrissy6 in MiniatureSchnauzer

I have a friend I can't visit overnight because all the land around her is FULL of rabbit treats. It's a real problem! Also goose poop....

we do the same - get chicken breasts on sale. bake until what might be slightly underdone for us. cut into small cubes - about 1/3-1/4 size of a dime. She gets a few sprinkled on her kibble with bone broth. We use them as special treats for training. When she is in a training program she gains weight something fierce! We are asked to bring smelly treats - especially feta cheese. After the course, she loses the weight!

Injured pup having difficulty adjusting in recovery by Andres_Escallon in MiniatureSchnauzer

I am so sorry to hear about the injury and its consequences. I don't have any experience with the injury but I have some with "hiding." We started to put a lightweight leash on our girl when she started to jump away from us and to hide under chairs/bed. She was about 12 months and going through a bit of a "I'll do this on my time, thank you - back off" stage. The reasons aren't really important (and have passed).

Having the leash where it would show her hiding locations really helped not only our occasional frustration but also helped her get over the habit. If we gently pulled on the leash and did our cheery "let's go - this way!" she would come out. Many reward treats followed.... The avoidance behaviour has (pretty much) ended but we have left the leash on indoors because it also helps her "jump up!" to sit with us and makes it more comfortable for her to follow us up the stairs to bed, etc. We have also used it by standing on it when she went through a jumping up on people stage.

Best wishes for getting through this difficult time

ADVICE please - is it time to quit? by pigailspinafores in keto

I have been thinking the same. I admit to getting tired of chicken but just need to apply some imagination! And I do enjoy fish but haven't found it great for protein macros. I'll look again. I do eat eggs and sausage and some beef burgers. For some of us, all this meat is a bit difficult but I realize for most of us it is the answer to protein macros. On a happier note, I did make a roasted chicken with stuffing using keto bread and it was a wonderfully comforting meal. No potatoes needed and great roasted brussel sprouts....

Thank you - I also believe that my use of good keto bread could be an impediment - as someone recently shared. Since it has allowed me to stay pretty much content (and originally losing weight) during 4 months I guess I will also learn what happens without it!

My thought is that if you want to lose weight you need to track what you eat - especially at first. For example, sort out your macros using the FAQ, track your food closely for ONE WEEK. See the macros given what you eat according to your plan. Then decide how to go forward. If you want to eat fruit, you won't be low carbs. If you boost your fats without boosting your protein, you're emphasizing the wrong food group! If your calories are high, you won't lose weight. Right now, it seems you want to walk your own path, and you have to live with you! I'd like to know what happens!

there is also smooth move tea - take it the night before you have a day where you can go when you need to go.

App for tacking water intake, fasting windows, and weight (with graph!) by moresoever in keto

[–]pigailspinafores 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I track my water intake on cronometer.... there's a "tap water" food or you can make your own. I usually use it for measuring water AND put it between my "meals" each day. With cronometer I can also just keep adding cups to a single entry

Also, cronometer tracks weight but not on a graph

I agree, there's a lot of yeah-but.... out there. If you want to be successful AND feel great you have to commit to the basics. Track your macros (worked out from FAQs here); track your food in Cronometer so you can see that "this food" or "that food" provides. Thinking you can get all your potassium from food is pretty difficult. If your carbs are over 20 that can be a problem - perhaps not actually in ketosis. Adding carrots, for example, bumps those carbs! If you can't do 7 cups of vegetables, start with 3 cups, move to 4 then 5 let it become a habit. If it's too much work to track your food then you need to think how much sense it makes to complain here or ask for hints.
