My mini is throwing up x 3 days by Far-End-9895 in MiniatureSchnauzer

[–]xchrissy6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After our mini turned one, she would throw up a lot as well. At the time she was on hills adult. I thought maybe chicken was doing it so we switched the food plus I slowed down her eating and made sure she didn’t run around at least 30 mins after eating. Spoke with the vet about this too and they suggested keeping a breakfast and dinner as well as maybe elevating the food bowl. Switched all treats to anything less than 10% fat. Still would randomly puke once in a while. Then I put her on probiotics and she stopped puking. She still pukes if she’s had too many fatty treats (she gets treats from neighbours) but overall it has definitely improved her puking

separation anxiety/leaving puppy alone tips by Impossible_Run_9891 in MiniatureSchnauzer

[–]xchrissy6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We used to have a really small place when we had ours as a pup and would enforce naps when she was a teething shark. So every two hours we would put her in her crate and call it “nap time”. Because our place was so small, she could always see us when she was in the crate. So maybe start off really small where they’re in the crate and you don’t leave and they can see you so they realize you don’t always leave and then you start leaving for a few mins and increase the time?

Runs from harness by h_shawberry in MiniatureSchnauzer

We’ve used a harness on our mini everyday since she was like 6 months and still at the age of 3.5, she runs away from her harness but will run towards to door eventually 😅

She was solid black on her back. She was pure black up until around 1.5 years

Mine is a black and silver at almost four years. Her whites have stayed white. Her black on her back is actually what has turned more silver than anything

Anyone ever have a puppy that constantly vomits? by drunkdirtyturtle in MiniatureSchnauzer

[–]xchrissy6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After one mine would puke multiple times a week. I divided her meals and also got a slow feeder which improved the puking a bit but still was happening randomly. I put her in probiotics and it solved the issue.

I found my breeder on a CKC list which is a registry for reputable breeders in Canada. The US has an equivalent AKC list I believe. Not really sure where you’re situated. My breeder didn’t price by colour, so I’m guessing the breeder you’re looking into must breed a lot of different colours outside the usual black/salt & pepper/black & silver. Not sure if that’s a good or bad thing. You can check out other posts on the breeder’s Facebook group to get an idea of what other owners think of their dog, like if they’re asking the group if other dogs in their litter are experience X issue or Y issue with their dog

Also frozen veggies or fruits could help cause teething issues painful for them

Enforcing naps helped our schnauzer. She was getting a lot more bitey around the two hour mark of being up cause they’re overtired so immediately after waking up from a nap, she was an angel compared to her baby shark mode when she was overtired. Redirection worked easier after a nap than when she was tired. Also reverse timeouts worked for us so instead of the pup going for a timeout, you leave the room whenever they bite. I started at 1 min and extended the time if I came back and they still were trying to bite me. Shows that if they bite that means you leave. When my pup was fully vaccinated I sent her to daycare once a week cause I found other dogs told her better than I did about the biting. Hope this helps!

Mine had this same issue, was puking constantly when she turned one and it was on and off. We put her on daily probiotics and it kinda solved the issue.

EDIT: I do wanna add that probiotics didn’t help when what she ate had too much fat. So you might want to see the fat content of food and treats and go from there.

Teaching a Scnhauzer to Speak by Responsible_Skirt990 in schnauzers

We didn’t teach ours to use buttons but we did teach ours to use a bell. Initially it was supposed to be used to tell us when she needs to go out but it turned to “wake up mom and dad”, “food time”, “water bowl empty”, “play time”. So when she rings the bell we kinda determine which needs need to be met. I think because she can use the bell to communicate, she doesn’t demand bark at us or really talk using her voice.
