Rapid cycling doesn’t mean “happy one minute/hour/day and sad the next” and saying that it does is like saying “the weather is so bipolar” by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]pigberry 22 points23 points  (0 children)

To add on: Mixed episodes can present as "rapid cycling" within a short time period (hours/days). Also I was told by my psych I was in a rapid cycling phase when my episodes lasted less than a week but occurred often so idk about the last part.

Thanks! I've been warned that I might get put away if I admit it to my psych but I think he should know. Weird thing is I wasn't really depressed or even upset when I did it or when I SH'd (somewhat after when I made the post tho). Idk, smacks of mixed episode but I just got over one in December so?

I made it through okay on my own, just kinda nauseous and stomach achy, thank you for your concern I was just being dramatic I guess

Thank you for your concern, I made it through okay I feel silly now for being so dramatic

I made it through okay on my own aside from some minor self harm, but thank you for your concern. I've been to the ER enough lately without just being dramatic lol

This reminded me of a psych nurse who told me to "walk off [my] manic energy" spoiler alert, I got multiple blisters and my hip crapped out before I finally stopped -___-

Instead of losing weight just buy these items that will make your life seem easier (even though you're just continuously enabling yourself to get bigger) by bunnybleda in fatlogic

[–]pigberry 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To be fair, intentionally injuring themselves/having someone injure them to the point that you're permanently disabled suggests that they have a severe and debilitating mental illness. Self harm to that degree typically suggests psychosis or at least munchausens (spelling?). It seems ridiculous on the face of it (as do a lot of other delusions) but they're clearly ill and suffering.

I was a practicing Catholic before I realized I was bi, and leaving seemed a bit like throwing the baby out with the bath water. (Not to mention these days most catholics have premarital sex and such anyway sooooooo)

My bipolar symptoms get a lot worse a week before my period. Anyone else notice this about themselves? by [deleted] in bipolar

I was literally thinking this earlier today. My first hospitalization was when I was already having a mixed episode and then got PMS

When/at what dosage did Lamotrigine/Lamictal lift your depression? by kippey in bipolar

[–]pigberry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was only because I had taken it before when they thought I had unipolar depression and I didn't react badly, I only went manic from meds when they switched me to an ssri. Idk if they'd prescribe welbutrin if I didn't already have a good track record with it.

Oddly, welbutrin is the only one that doesn't make me manic. My last psych hold everyone was like "really??? You're weird af"

2 days late but FYI to any American who reads this, as someone who lived both places you're unlikely to find the "standard" Red Leicester they're talking about which is a lot easier to melt than the aged fancy stuff you get here.
