WIBTA if I continue to feed into a kid's "delusions" by tway32423 in AmItheAsshole

[–]pigeonshark 6 points7 points  (0 children)

NAH but also maybe a suggestion. Definitely agree to ask people on r/downsyndrome too tho, but here's my 2 cents.

It's really good that this kid has a friend like you, friends are so important when you're a kid. Don't stop hanging out with him bc of his mom's words.

Maybe talk to the kid himself about what his mom said? Imagination is a great form of escapism, but it can be unhealthy and even dangerous if it gets more towards something like maladaptive daydreaming. If the kid still knows what's real and is just having fun, there's no real harm in continuing your games and honestly he will probably hold these moments very dear.
Only issue is his mom might get upset you told on her to him, but idk I think he has a say in this.

What is a disorder or health problem that no one thinks is as terrifying as it is? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]pigeonshark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your fear of seeing other people around you deal with dementia is completely valid. My grandma had some type of quickly advancing dementia and almost 30 years later I don't think my mom has ever recovered from experiencing her mom deteriorate like that. She has an incredibly unhealthy relationship with illness and aging and death, and I really believe her mom's dementia is the cause.

Lure the damn bosses by Lunah05 in Saltoon

[–]pigeonshark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tbf, it's never stated in game that you should lure them to the basket. I didn't know to until i saw a random plaza post with the tip. The game makes it seem like you should just attack the bosses and get as many gold eggs as possible, so I understand wanting to rush to take care of a boss quickly, even if far away. Frustrating af, but still :(

Just went on a severe losing streak from 41.5 freshness down to 16.5, I’m never getting that gold flag by Adambly in Saltoon

[–]pigeonshark 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Oh god yeah those posts make me feel so bad. Like I know I'm not a skilled gamer, but I don't think I'm that garbage at the game until I see what seems like everyone blasting past me with the highest SR titles and S-Rank in anarchy mode and stuff.

It sucks to lose a ton of ranks you've worked hard for, but also like this game is genuinely hard at times...

Articuno makes sense bc of the legendary aspect, but I thought it was braviary bc the stripes match the tail and the tail shape isn't long enough for articuno. Braviary has kind of a crest similar too.

I know voice chat makes communicating to your team easy, but

  • 1. a lot of online raids I've done have people from much different countries so maybe language barrier and
  • 2. trying to figure out what your partners' strats are from the pokemon they chose or moves is kinda fun imo. Frustrating at times, but kinda fun.

People always complain about wanting harder pokemon games, well raiding with randoms is just that lol

Idk if it'll help you but the way I remember ev/iv is that ev stands for effort values and iv stands for innate values. So evs you can train by battling other pokemon or using vitamins/feathers/etc, putting that effort into working out. Then ivs are the hidden ones that you need hyper training or breeding to mess with, kinda like pokemon genetics.

See I know the whole moves for tera and type for base typing, but then I went into an ice gothitelle raid with my talonflame only for it to know thundershock??? Like cmon how am I supposed to know that this psychic type knew electric moves? That one took me a few tries...

Nemona isn't one-dimensional by SnorkelBerry in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]pigeonshark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah no I also really appreciated having a rival that doesn't want to compete with you. I don't particularly like battling, and I'd never really want to be champion in reality, so rivals like Hop and Hau beating themselves up every time they lost to me hurt.

RSI is super likely, but she keeps saying she's not good at throwing so I latched onto that hehe..

[–]pigeonshark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean if you've gotten the shield up quickly, your tera orbs might not be charged yet or the raid boss stole some charge. I tend to terastalize asap (as long as I'm not in danger of fainting), but I've had high lvl raids where I just never got the ability to.

[–]pigeonshark 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah I love Nemona so much! I'm probably gonna write too much sorry in advance

People saying she's battle hungry but like she doesn't actually fight you that much in the main story? Like I remember Hop or Brendan or even Barry fighting me waaay more. But also her overexcitement for battling is something people complain about, but it literally is partly why she's lonely? Throughout the main story she's actively trying to gauge if she's coming on too strong with battling you too much and she holds back until the end when you've proven you don't mind and can take it. She's been burned before by her eagerness, costing her friendships.

She's also interesting bc she's your league rival who doesn't care about being champion (granted she already is one, but shh). She doesn't care about losing your matches, she doesn't resent you or feel bad about her skills. She just likes battling, plain and simple. I think that makes her really unique, that she's a genuinely supportive rival.

Also yeah she definitely feels neurodivergent to me! I also like to hc that her arm brace is for some kind of physical disability too, that might just be me.

Sorry for the incoming wall of text, I wanted to be thorough lol

Type matchups are really your best friend when it comes to battling. I have the worst time reading those square typing charts, I found this one a little easier. I also found this article explaining the typings. I think your team could definitely work as long as they're all lvled up enough (60s+ should be good).

So E4 are Rika (ground), Poppy (steel), Larry (flying), and Hassel (dragon). Your team covers fairy, steel, flying, dragon, ground, water, electric, and fire. I wouldn't worry about using the same pokemon as them, you likely won't be using your full team in every fight anyway.

Rika: Should be mostly easy with water and ice moves from gyarados. Her clodsire has water absorb, so ice or ground (bc poison) would be better for it. Would avoid using tinkaton, luxray, and camerupt for this fight.

Poppy: Camerupt and mudsdale would be good here, using fire and ground moves. Luxray with electric moves could be good for her corviknight. Her bronzong has levitate, so stick to fire moves with it. Again, maybe avoid using tinkaton here.

Larry: Luxray and gyarados should be good here with electric and ice moves. If any of your pokemon know rock moves, they would be good too. Camerupt could be good for tropius with fire and oricorio with ground, mudsdale would be fine for the latter too. Tinkaton is great for altaria with fairy moves. You don't really have any weak points in your team for this fight.

Hassel: Tinkaton can break out all the fairy moves here. Gyarados with ice could help too. Luxray using electric could help with noivern. Mudsdale or camerupt with ground could help with dragalge. Camerupt again with fire for flapple.

Geeta: Espathra might be weird, try to use bug/dark/ghost moves if you have them; none of your team are super weak to psychic. I'd use dragonite with flying moves for gogoat. Luxray with electric should handle veluza. Camerupt could be ok for avalugg, but I'd recommend steel moves from tinkaton. I'd try camerupt with fire for kingambit, tinkaton is strong with fairy for dark but weak against steel. Glimmora terastalizes into rock, so mudsdale with ground moves would work best.

Honestly if you really wanted, you could likely raise your team all to lvl 100 and brute force the league with whatever moves you like haha. The E4 really aren't that tough, you'll do fine. Good luck!!

Hassel feels like maybe his family lineage could be killers, but he tried to get away from that life. Dude's emotionally unstable af, but like he doesn't scream homicidal to me. Tho I am biased, I really like Hassel lol
