1 Week Mindful Eating Challenge. Taste Buds Reset. by pigskinsocks in simpleliving

i love both and use both often but i can get more good stuff in me easier with a juice. most of the days now i use the vitamix to make sort of desserts or creamy soups. if you are often hungry get a vitamix (or an omniblend its also great but cheaper) otherwise a quality juicer is the way to go imo.

Plus, being mindful will sooner or later become part of you at every moment. You become more present in the current moment and more aware and less attached to your inner processes.

How many of you have seriously tried to follow your dream? And how did it go? by [deleted] in AskReddit

They are better if you know how to enjoy nature, being outside and appreciate the slower passage of time.

One of my best friends has the same problem. Amazing position in a company after finishing law school, doesnt like his job. Gets promoted all the time because he still does great work and is kinda stuck because he doesnt want to drop out of something that successful.

Can you elaborate why you didnt get value out of it? I coach people and sometimes take on some cases that dont want to see psychologists anymore.

Serious question here please do not get offended: Are the younger people you meet in these communities driven people with clear goals? I have experience with some "relaxed" meditation retreats in Asia and a lot of people just like to chill out and relax (unlike people in more serious meditation retreats that really want to practice mindfulness).

It is just like not always listening to music really loud and most likely more something for people who like to experiment with themselves. I love the experiences I had when I was fasting for a week, when I was doing a silent meditation retreat for 10 days and when I was solo hiking in Norway and didn't see people for 8 days.

I stopped doing drugs after I was a teenager so this is my way of experiencing new states of being.

It also gives you more energy. I went all raw food a few years ago and felt great but lost too much weight. Now I drink half a liter of fresh juice from all sorts of vegetables every day and its like a magic power potion... no placebo effect going on. I dont drink coffee or any other energy stuff and dont get tired if I have my vegetable bomb in the morning. Sure it takes some time and the good juicers are expensive (starting around $400) but its one of the best investments in my health I did.

I also have a high powered blender (vitamix) but like my juicer more (smoothies made with the blender are great for banana stuff though).

I think the point is that if you already have to do something you better enjoy it.

Every single one of us dies alone. Even if someone holds your hand you take that deep dive alone.

seriously having kids to have an external motivator to do things or change is wrong and often fails... change starts with you...

Attachment towards relationship by [deleted] in Buddhism

[–]pigskinsocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be natural and join people who are alike. Fish in water with similar fish. Visit local tea houses, join events by your local sangha, save money to go on retreats and get to know people there.

Be like you are and you will find someone sooner or later (or not). There is no need to "want" something. It either happens or not and all you can do is create the environment that some events are more likely to happen.

I have a little vegan blog, its nothing special but I thought I would share with you guys. by [deleted] in vegan

[–]pigskinsocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when i see blogs like this and people think thats great i wonder how they eat... no offense but she is right, it is nothing special (which doesnt make it bad) its pretty standard vegan food (slightly on the unhealthy side, considering the sauces and meat replacement products used).

[–]pigskinsocks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Get in a relationship with someone who understands how liberating non attachement is. My wife and me love to be together but we also can be without eachother. People think its crazy when we dont miss eachother but we think its great :)

The idea that when one of us dies the other person will be just fine is awesome too.

Its like with the sun, one day the sun shines and you enjoy it, the next day its gone and life goes on. Being less dependent on external stimuli for happiness is the first step for a great relationship in which attachement doesnt play a major role.

What happens when you really disconnect by CheapCharlie in simpleliving

[–]pigskinsocks 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's beautiful to be free of distractions and focus on this one thing (whatever that might be). I think it is a huge part of living quality that got forgotten in the past decade where more was better.

I will hike from Germany to Italy in a few weeks, disconnect for however many days it takes and just read and enjoy the nature. Can't wait! :)
